hi i have a problem my stream freezes when i alt tab out of my game but in the past it didnt and even now, some games that i run on fullscreen dont freeze while alt tabbed but some does

Ok so basically i started streaming valorant for a while and im streaming using OBS studio. I play Valorant on a 1280 x 960 (4:3) Aspect Ratio which is non native as my monitor has a 1920 x 1080 (16:9) display. However, in the past i was able to stream valorant with this res on fullscreen and whenever i alt tabbed the stream wouldnt freeze (edited)

However, i stopped streaming for awhile and now im back into streaming and i came back to obs needing and update. After i updated it however, whenever i stream valorant and i alt tab from the game, my stream freezes

I searched online and they said its because the game is running in fullscreen and when i alt tab from it the pc stops rendering it and hence the stream freezes as the game is not being rendered

and the only way to resolve it is to run the game in fullscreen borderless or windowed which allows the game to be rendered even when alt tabbed

however, the 1280 x 960 aspect ratio i run can only be run as fullscreen in valorant as valorant does not rly support stretched or non native resolution and hence if i want to stream it with fullscreen borderless or windowed i have to play with a different res which makes it really hard for me to play

So I've been reading about having low bitrates in the beginning to build your community and then jump onto a higher bitrate when you become partnered. The question is: Is 760-60fps and 6000 bitrate too high? What would be a very good balance between video quality and people not having problems loading my stream.

Each game is programmed differently

and in the past before i updated i was able to stream valorant on native res and not freezing when alt tabbed

If one thing doesn't work, sometimes the only option is to try something else

(which I would recommend anyway for a variety of reasons, the biggest of which being the added stress on your PC from re-encoding a video process for OBS)

If you're trying to push any more than 600Kbps, you're probably going to experience latency issues because you have run out of bandwidth.

When you first ran OBS, it did a check on your internet connection to see what your upload speed is, and adjusted the bitrate to match. It uses simple mode to do this, and yours was set at 395Kbps, because your internet connection is testing at 600Kbps.

The bitrate is basically setting the cap at how much data your computer will be pushing up to Twitch.

So let's take 1 second of video

The quality of that one second will be determined by a number of factors, but is constricted by the bitrate cap

So, if you have 60 frames of data in that one second and only have 600Kb worth of bandwidth in that second, each one of those frames is going to look like garbage

Anything on Spotify is protected. YouTube is hit and miss depending on if the content is monetized.

Yeah, even stuff like StreamBeats is protected, but their license allows for use on Twitch streams.

@Hyashi The recommendation is to find a service that offers licenses for streaming, like StreamBeats. I don't believe Spotify has such a license currently.

GeForce Experience has a number of features that could cause some overhead load. You can disable some of the features to see if you get your performance back.

Press ALT-Z on your keyboard to bring up the overlay and you can make adjustments there.

How do I configure my audio source to get both Game and Voice (Discord) instead of only one? (I've an Astro A50) I am thinking about "combine" both audio sources in a single one and send it to the NDI Screen Capture.

@seladara Shai is really quiet, but the mic proximity sounds correct. Your audio sounds like you're really far away, which is why I suspect the source being incorrectly assigned.
