How can I pipe in custom graphic overlays on events or demand, kind of want to do stuff like custom text based on an event - similar to "XYZ has subscribed" etc.
Anything - not sure how its handled. I do software so could be an api, could be a callback doesn't particularly matter as long as I got something to use.
Yea my thought of - if I don't have twitch - how do I connect outside events to custom graphics inside a stream output, and potentially do so with dynamic/animated graphics.
I like how AVERmedia released a "GoXLR killer" with a garbage pre-amp that won't power the majority of prosumer and production quality mics. Genius move!
That is a hardware issue due to the pre-amp being a POS, unless they just do a second version you do not want them trying to "fix" it with digital gain
Hey; I'm having some trouble with the voice-chat on Discord.. Last night I put everyone's volume up to 200% and I could barely hear them. Windows has Discord volume maxed out too. Is there a program or setting I could use to boost it even higher?
hey everyone! I’m trying to add a media source on OBS. It’s a video with audio that I want to control on my streamdeck. The issue is that I don’t hear the audio. Does anyone know how to fix it? Thank you!
Okay, so I listened to the sample again, and if you're moving your head left to right (like shaking your head no) and the mic is cutting out like that, it's probably just gated really hard.
I was also looking at getting one of the cloud lifters for the mic because I have seen some pro setups use that and a lot of people online recommending it with the sm7b
I can’t recommend a cloud lifter, save the money. The GoXLR has plenty of gain already, and all that the cloudlifter will do is just add to the SM7B’s high noise floor problem.

Make sure your SM7B is like 2 inches from your mouth as well, it needs to be close AF

One of the things I’d I’m gonna change my boom arm since I have to use an adapter to hang on my mic to my current arm

Just something I was thinking on and debating I do still have some issues but I like the quality overall but just seeing big setups using the same mic Im constantly ok but how
Monitors are the worst for sound, so it's inevitable and frustrating to resolve acoustics issues for streamers(edited)

As for booms, if you have one of the low-cost spring booms, they'll work okay for a while with an adaptor. I have a Heil PL2T, as well as a Gator Frameworks 3000 Series. I have issues with both, neither is exactly what I want.

A tale of two microphones... Still waiting on the GoXLR, but my M-Audio Fast Track should work for testing, right @Chorazin?
The 3000 series has an integrated cable, which is nice, but I’m curious if replacing it is an option without having to make your own cable.
7:42 PM
I’m also not a fan of the spring tension holding mechanism. It’s not kind to people who reposition their mics a lot.
7:42 PM
BUT, if you’re not moving your mic except for pivoting it out of the way, it’s beyond nice.
7:43 PM
Very clean, strong, and sexy looking
7:44 PM
The Heil has a recessed channel to hide a cable, but the little plastic track bit that covers the channel has a tendency to want to pop out. I ended up having to tape mine down.
7:44 PM
It is nice for repositioning and has good strength, but without a suspension mount you’re going to pick up vibrations from the springs.
7:46 PM
The Heil has an option for a wall mount, which I opted for, but I’m now noticing that it picks up sounds like road noise or doors shutting at other parts of my house. Again, something that would likely be fixed with a suspension mount.
I simultaneously love and hate the mouting rod that Heil uses. It holds strong at extreme angles, but the rod spins freely, so sometimes getting the mic at address is an issue.
I actually leave mine un-tightened, you can adjust tension so mine is always loose with the mv7 on the end and just holds where I put it. Edit for clarity: my gatorworks(edited)
Hey I had a question in regards to streaming off the ps5 built in twitch/YouTube support... If I play a game in 4k and want my stream output to be 720p, would that work in downscaling just the gameplay feed or would my game downscale to 720p as well? I know for an actual game capture device it works differently but not sure how it works straight off console.(edited)
Hello everyone! Is it possible to have a specific scene to have the transition duration to 0 on OBS Studios? Whenever I change it, all the scenes get the same settings. Like I want all other scenes to have just a simple fade in and then this one scene to just switch. Thank you!(edited)
Hellooo I’m not sure if this counts here but I have a problem with my PayPal taking away a lot of the money because my country doesn’t do euro and twitch donations do. Is it the right channel to ask about it?

hey @TenderSausage! I'm new to the headphone + mic scene and am not really sure where to go. I primarily play counterstrike and am in discord with the friends. I currently have a headset, the hyperx cloud revolver s, that is falling apart and needs replacing. I wanted to go up a notch in the audio arena and a headphone + stand-alone mic combo seems like the next jump. So far I'm thinking about the AKG 712 pro headphone. Aside from those, I'm not too sure what else I need. I'd like the remainder of the budget for amp/dac, the mic, and a desk mounted boom to be <= $300usd. From the things I have been reading/watching I would need some sort of dynamic mic and a suggested amp/dac would be the sound blasterx g6. I'm not married to anything so any suggestions are welcome and your time appreciated!
@wackylacky Thanks for being patient. We just got back from the hospital from having a baby. I want to make sure I understand what your goals are, as there are about 1,000 directions we could send you in. Based on the gear you've already mentioned, it looks like you're looking to level up YOUR audio experience, correct? You're not especially concerned about Discord or stream audio quality?(edited)
@TenderSausage Congrats on the kiddo! you are 10,000% correct that the upgrade mainly for my own benefit but I'm sure my friends will appreciate the better mic haha Just want to make sure I don't blow up the headphones with the wrong equipment and would be nice to sound decent in voip
Hello here. I asked this question on r/streaming and also r/audio but I couldn't find any answer My microphone is doing crackling noises and I can't figure out why It's the Fifine k669b and several youtube videos tested this mic and they wern't making these noises As an exemple, please open this short audio I made https://voca.ro/1gC39tXIL8pL it is very random, I can record myself for a minute straight and hear nothing or have like 5 of them in 30s(edited)
@TenderSausage sorry that budget is for everything BUT the headphones. I'm in the US so I plan on purchasing the headphones from Europe and having them imported (still save over $100 lol) so the ~$300 is for the amp/dac combo (or amp + dac), microphone, and desk mounted boom, If that seems unrealistic I can hold off and save some more if a better price/performance can be had for more $

@TenderSausage awesome! so pricing out the g6 then leaves me with about $150. Should I get a mic that can go through the g6 to maximize the g6 purchase or not worry about that? got a recommendation for mics and a boom for around $150? From what I have been reading a dynamic mic would serve better than a condenser for my purpose i think..?

The cheap spring ones can be loud when adjusting. You can prevent this with a shock mount. Some of the cheap Amazon bundles come with a pop filter and shock mount. NOTE: They are cheap in price and quality. But if you're kind to them, they will work well.

I bought this one and still use it today. Most in this style are manufactured by the same company, so it doesn't really matter which you get. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076ZKGZ5X/

I'm going to finally buy the Blue Radius III shock mount for my Yeti X. I know there are knock-offs that will work, but the Blue one looks to be better engineered.

I need to finally do some review videos, too. I'm starting to amass quite the collection of parts.
@Gyro There should be a screw that you can tighten that will prevent lateral swing. There might be a sweet spot where you can still move it and it will hold position.
Hey, i'm sorry I only see your message now. So, to be honest, this problem is very random, I just isolated a moment where it was annoying but it usually doesn't happen at all, making it a small problem. Though I care about having a clean sound and so it is annoying I have a Ryzen 3600 and Ryzen 6700 xt

@あしたか If it becomes more common, send me a video or audio clip and I'll take another look. It seems like just a blip at this point, not a whole lot to go on.
