No doubt. I had a capture card fail seven minutes before an 850-person webinar on Wednesday. I almost lost my mind. Now I have an answer for when my wife asks, "Do you really need two of those?"
I bought a capture card in the form of a usb that allows me to plug an hdmi cord directly into my computer for capturing game footage. Problem is, I have to resort to playing the game on my computer screen, which isn’t bad, but a bit weird for some games. Is there anything out there that would let me connect to both my system and my computer using hdmis?
Hello Everyone, I am a teacher and have never streamed before. I am looking for advice to set up a low/no cost 24/7 webcam feed of chicken eggs being incubated and eventually hatched. I may want to set up overlays with something like OBS or StreamLabs. I am also thinking about the possibility of low light/night camera options as well. I may be in the wrong place and if so please let me know!
Hi guys! I have a problem about capturecard connect to obs. Today I bought new capturecard and I tried to setup, I watched some videos but nothing happened . I checked Google but I haven't found solution. What should I do?
@Sinameki Sarp When you're done broadcasting, I'd like to see what the preview looks like from the EOS Utility. If you can send me a screenshot of that, it would be helpful.(edited)
I dropped it off at microcenter. They just got around to it yesterday. They took my cpu and motherboard out and tested them both and they were fine. Turns out the motherboard needed a bios update for "stability"
btw im sure for eos entity settings but i dont know im not as expert as you. are you sure this problem Are you sure it's caused by this? becuase camera works well in obs camera see me but display very strange

Anybody got like some solid camera suggestions I’m really bad at picking these out and I would like to look at getting a better one for recording facecam
With a ~$500 budget for camera and lights, I'd look at getting an Elgato Key Light Air ($129) and a Logitech Brio ($200)
3:52 PM
That gives you plenty of budget to pick up another Key Light Air or accessories
3:54 PM
The Brio is a great 4K30 camera that will let you do 1080p60 easily
3:54 PM
With the added tunable light from the Key Lights, you can overcome any coloration issues that are common with the Brio.
3:56 PM
If you want to spend less on the camera, the Logitech C922 PRO Stream is amazing. It's my doc cam, and I love it for $99, but it's 1080p30 or 720p60, so for a main cam it's not great if you ever intend to go fullscreen with it
3:58 PM
Also, the Razer Kiyo Pro just released recently. If it's anything like the original Kiyo, it will be great. I have not personally tried it, but looking at test footage, it looks like competition to the Brio at $200
3:58 PM
I'm actually bummed that I didn't see the Kiyo Pro earlier. It looks really good.
I like it a lot, EXCEPT for the fact you need to have it directly connected to your PC, it didn’t work right with a hub or an extension cable, and I have it far enough from my PC that they barely connect.
4:05 PM
But, performance is great and I think it looks really nice
I’m running the Kiyo Pro as my side view, is great for talking to chat with no game play and I use it during my “starting soon” brb and ending scenes. I have a StreamCam in front of me for video during gameplay
My setup is a little extreme for being a small streamer, but realistically unless something breaks or there is a radical shift in streaming tech I should not need to upgrade for a very very very VERY long time
4:15 PM
So instead of incremental upgrades I just went for it
If you're using Banana, you may want to upgrade to Potato
5:28 PM
It gives you more channels to work with
5:28 PM
5:29 PM
Here's an example of my VBAN. I'm sending the Yeti X and Discord from my Game PC to Stream PC, and I'm receiving back Alerts and Music from my Stream PC to the Game PC.(edited)
5:30 PM
5:31 PM
In Potato, you have up to three virtual inputs to work with, and you can assign your VBAN inputs to the Hardware Inputs to extend beyond that.
5:32 PM
This gets complicated quickly, but I feel confident we can figure out how to get you up and running.
also wait @TenderSausage are you able to just transmit audio via wifi with this VBAN thing you posted?
5:42 PM
do you have a channel specifically for alerts and music?
5:45 PM
id love if you could show me how to do that haha, I've got potato on both my devices, and im able to send audio from my main pc to the stream pc, but idk how to specifically send alert audio back
This is my new upcoming rig. Anyone could recommend me for the settinfs with slobs. For smooth quality 1080p60 streaming with games like cyberpunk. Codmw. Assasins creed valhalla or basically any triple A games
Nvenc old is for the Nvidia graphics cards that don't have a dedicated encoder chip. Nvenc new is for the Nvidia graphics cards that do have a dedicated encoder chip. The graphics cards that have the Nvenc encoder chip are the 1650 ti, 1660 series, 20XX series, and 30XX series, and all gaming cards Nvidia are going to release in the future will have some version of it.
If I put a higher bitrate than 6k would it lessen the fluctuating of the stream to lower res? My stream fluctuates to low res for a quick sec sometimes
I'm also suspect of the connection because of the fluctuating. I also can't tell what you mean by dropping frames, @KuyoKurt . Are you describing what is happing as "lost frames", or is Facebook or OBS reporting this?(edited)

I got my razer kiyo today and filmed my first video with it
Hey everyone. It's really hard to find appropriate info regarding this question, and everyone seems to be doing it differently. The point is - ideally I want to output both PC audio for notifications and console audio in real time (not captured one that is with lag) on a regular HDMI-only capture card. I've seen some people split the input of the headset with the output, connecting output of the console through the audio jack on a controller and only using that as an input. Is there a proper way of doing it right? (I haven't tried anything yet, I even don't have a capture card - I am not sure about the model or the setup I need to get to achieve this)(edited)
Compounmd on top of that the fact that audio streams on consoles often contain the game AND chat audio on the same channels, so you can't seperate them out
4:44 PM
So you have to like... Intercept the audio and re-send it... It get's wonky
My monitor has regular jack out and I thought of using it to to feed into a separate audio card (I have that since long ago) and mix everything together using software. But I thought there's an easier way
Sending chat audio back to the console is the hard part of all of that. If you weren't chatting on console you could just get an ElGato Cap Card and play right on your PC screen with their software, and all the audio is just there. That's how I do Switch.(edited)
Hello guys! I am having issues with my streamlabs.com cloudbot (my commands and chat alerts for follows/subs/etc are not working). What happened is that I accidentally enabled the streamelements.com chat bot and I think it's causing the other bot to not work (I have nothing setup with streamelements.) I have since disabled this bot (I think) but my actual bot still doesnt work whenever I try to do any of my commands. Thank you for all the help. ❤️ I use OBS Studios if that helps.

Hey guys! What's the recipe for the link part in a shoutout command in streamelements? Is it {target.name} and {target.url}? (like for streamlabs.com cloudbot?
@TenderSausage Oh, so the thing is I was able to stream from SLOBS to YouTube. But my issue was I'd already created the stream on YouTube and couldn't figure out how to get it on SLOBS.
6:12 PM
Like, if I want to post something on YouTube now saying "I'm going live tonight", can I import that stream later on to SLOBS?
I don't understand what you're asking, unfortunately.
6:17 PM
So, you streamed to YouTube using SLOBS. Now, you have some YouTube Live content that is now stored on YouTube as one of your past streams. Are you asking how to re-broadcast it using SLOBS?
6:19 PM
I feel like maybe there's more than one question there...
Sorry, I didn't explain it very well. The first thing I did was set up a stream on YouTube, but I couldn't figure out how to get the video playing in SLOBS. The only option I saw was "Go Live".
6:19 PM
So I had to delete the first stream, and use the "Go Live" option in SLOBS. This created a second stream, which was pushed to YouTube.
That makes sense. It sounds like you were sending two streams, one via YouTube Studio and the other via SLOBS.
6:21 PM
There's no point in using YouTube Studio if you intend to use SLOBS
6:21 PM
It's a situation where you pick the one you like better, either YouTube Studio or SLOBS.
1
6:24 PM
If you plan on streaming to more than one platform at a time, you will want to use SLOBS and either subscribe to SL Prime or use a service like Restream.io
So yesterday was my first stream. I never tried the YouTube Studio or SLOBS before. I guess the reason I was using SLOBS is I saw a video recommending it, & it let me choose different layers to show & hide. (Game footage, waiting)
6:28 PM
I'm not sure about paying premium yet, or multiple platforms either, I just kindof want to try it a bit & see if I'm able to entertain first.
Hey, I was having a stupid issue with SLOBS last night and I’m not sure if it was a setting error or my microphone not working again.
5:18 PM
I couldn’t get the game sound to play in the stream. When I looked at the far right bar it showed “Windows volume” or something, & this fluctuated with game sound.
5:19 PM
At first I thought it was muted (eye button), but I kept switching things on/off & it never worked. Any ideas?
Anyone know what the deal is with windows not allowing gamed like kingdom come deliverance and a fist full of frags to run. My pc can only play the games if i restart my computer but if i wait at most 20 min then they wond start at all. Only gets me to the small startup screen and looking at it in task maneger it says its not responding. I know for a fact i can run either game because i run the Witcher 3 on max settings fine.(edited)
@alonewolf42@TheEasternWizard and @Tickle Me Otter, I'll try to be online and available in a couple of hours. When I'm available, I'll let you know and will join the "chat" voice channel.
4:46 PM
I took a couple days off from #🔧│tech-support-archive to do Easter stuff with the family.
@TenderSausage It's okay, I figured it out. My "Microphone" Source and Mixer needs "Microphone (Razer USB Sound Card)". Whereas the "Game" Source needs to capture game window, and "Desktop Audio" needs to capture "Speakers (Razer USB Sound Card)".
5:54 PM
I've had trouble with this headset before, when recording VO. Either it records and I can't hear playback, or no record but I still have audio.
@TenderSausage I do have another question though. During a stream 2 ppl asked if I could turn on Discord chat and their voice appeared. But the only way to control the volume for both Game Audio & Discord audio was through "Desktop Audio". Or say I wanted to add a third thing like Winamp music. Is there a way to give each program.exe a separate volume in Mixer?
So, I'm temporarily streaming in a room with flooring very sensitive to vibrations (walking, jumping, etc.), which is problematic because I tend to stream more non-gaming things throughout my room. A heavy footstep from one side of the room will shake the camera (on a tripod) on the other side of the room. Are there any ways to dampen the vibrations without (I assume) having to suspend the camera? I don't know, maybe I'm asking for magic.
Say I am playing music from a browser (Chrome) and want to display the song/artist currently playing. Currently, I'm window capturing the browser [tab] and cropping the relevant song/artist name. However, the issue is if the tab is hidden (minimized, or simply behind another window), then the window capture freezes/doesn't update. Is this a browser setting - perhaps not updating the page if not visible (even if audio is playing)? Any ideas to display the song playing while having the window/tab hidden, minimized, or even not the primary tab open?
9:42 PM
Tried with MS Edge & Firefox, window capture doesn't freeze when window is hidden (behind other windows), but still freezes when minimized.(edited)
But I suppose you could try to see if you can extract the information and then paste it to a file somewhere, and then you can use that as a media source to display it on your stream.
3:16 AM
It might require some coding/scripting experience.
3:17 AM
@Kha Ho Can you post a screenshot of what you're seeing?
Thanks for the advice. I just realized it's just an issue with browsers not rendering minimized (or in Chrome's case, hidden behind other windows) for obvious performance reasons. Just sucks that there is no option to enable that. I guess I need a second monitor, or figure out a better setup.
Try clearing your browser's cache. If that doesn't work, you may need to contact StreamElements.

Trouble is, I can't find a 21" 4K monitor from Samsung.
5:57 PM
The picture looks a lot like the U28E590D, but that's a 28" 4K monitor (~$300)
5:58 PM
@J_Snow88 To me, unless you need the monitor, I'd say pass on it.
5:59 PM
$500 isn't unreasonable for everything the seller is offering (assuming they are actually selling a 4K monitor), but from the sounds of it your friend needs more oomph than this PC can deliver.(edited)
And i maybe should mention that i want to stream games such as overwatch. If its possible to stream meanwhile having a consistent 120 fps it would be cool
Chekkd
And i maybe should mention that i want to stream games such as overwatch. If its possible to stream meanwhile having a consistent 120 fps it would be cool
Ohhh now im with you. Well, i wont play on highest for sure, when it comes to competetive games (or online games in general) i bump all settings to the lowest for best perfomance
Don’t forget that will also make your game look low quality on stream, which can turn some people off. But if you add more RAM to the machine and run everything on low, older games like Overwatch will probably run pretty well.(edited)
Plenty of other ow streamers have the settings on low as well, when i had my pc alive it looked pretty good as well. I got some RAM from my old pc that i might be anle to put in here as well
@Chekkd I agree with @Chorazin. This computer is decent, but needs more RAM. I would recommend at least 16GB, if not 32GB to efficiently run the stream and your game. With a 1660 Super, I might recommend you limit your stream to 720p60, which should give good quality without overtaxing the GPU.
4:34 PM
This would not affect your gameplay, just settings in your streaming app.
4:35 PM
Disclaimer: I'm very much in the camp that 32GB is the new standard for RAM and anything less sets you behind from the get-go.(edited)
@Chekkd 1. Upgrade RAM. The CML B460 MATX MB in that machine supports up to 64GB of 2933MHz RAM. BUT, I would make sure you buy the right stuff, because I don't know what (if any) overclocking/compatibility options you have with this motherboard. Looking around, it looks like that computer comes with this: https://www.newegg.com/samsung-8gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/0RN-001H-01YG5. For $45, you'd have 16GB total RAM with compatible parts. The motherboard has four RAM slots.(edited)
5:29 PM
2. Power Supply. This computer comes with a 400W PSU. It looks like it's the same footprint as other PSUs, so you just need to find one that will accommodate your upgrades down the line.
5:30 PM
3. GPU. You're going to cap that 1660 Super pretty quick. If you upgrade your GPU after upgrading the RAM and PSU, you will have removed a number of your other bottlenecks (within reason).
@Chekkd If you look at a bottle, the portion of the bottle where the liquid comes out usually "necks down" in size to the hole, or orifice. This section is called the bottle neck. This is a physical representation of when a larger system is limited by it's biggest restriction, in this case the neck and orifice of the bottle.(edited)
6:42 PM
In a computer system, there are many areas where bottlenecks appear, which means that specific pieces of hardware are limiting the potential of other components.
6:45 PM
For example, you could have a RTX 3090 in a system that doesn't support PCIe 4.0. The motherboard would be a bottleneck to the GPU in this case because the 3090 uses newer hardware than the motherboard is capable of using. In this case, the computer will still use the RTX3090, but will do so at slower speeds. Does that help?(edited)
IF YOU HAVE A GOXLR: Big update dropping today! I’ve been running the beta for weeks and it’s solid AF. I wholeheartedly believe the dev team did an amazing job with this, but still: • Screenshot your mic settings. • Make a copy of your GoXLR folder (in Documents). • Screenshot any app settings you may forget. Don't ruin your day.
It handles all your audio processing, basically. It does all your mixing in it's own hardware, reducing processing power for that on your system, and giving you hardware control of your audio sources for any fine tuning while you stream.
12:42 PM
Then, the full size version also can do on-hardware voice changing, so it's not like VoiceMod where you can hear your real voice behind the effect, it's changing it in real time.
12:42 PM
And it has a sampler pad, to play samples you add to it or record stuff during stream and replay(edited)
Oh, and another thing that is does is all the different muting options. Like, if you're playing with friends on Discord you can mute your voice to Discord while your stream can still hear you.
12:46 PM
Or, mute Discord to stream so you can hear but stream can't.
anyone available to join a call to help me set up my pc and streamlabs? im having a lot of trouble figuring it out and need help. i can explain more in the call.
Hey everyone! So I’m having issues with OBS (well I’m not sure if it is OBS tbh). I know it’s not my internet though. Basically OBS would stop “uploading” (idk how to better term this out). The stream would just suddenly stop, but OBS is running and the button to Stop Streaming is still available as if the stream is still on. When I press it once, it’d get stuck at “Stopping Stream” so I have to press it again for it to go back to the Start Streaming button again. Does anyone know of a step-by-step fix to this? I’m not very tech savvy so I don’t really know what else to do. Thank you in advance!
thats from the stream where I was still using wifi connection. I've been streaming since October of last year and I've only experienced this problem 3 times, 2 of them is from this week.
