Hey guys, I’ve been working with TenderSausage for a good chunk of the day on this, but I’m wondering if anyone else has any input. I have an AMD A12-9720P Radeon R7 as my processor, with 12 compute cores and 2.70GHz, and about 7.39 gb of usable ram. We’ve worked together to optimize the settings in OBS for this computer, but I’m still having issues when streaming Genshin Impact in particular. The game itself runs fine in menus and when not much is going on, but with things like combat the video gets incredibly choppy, even on the lowest possible settings. My question is, is my CPU just not up to snuff? I’ve had this computer for roughly five years now, so that may very well have something to do with it. Is there anything I can do to enhance its performance?(edited)
@TenderSausage ok I tried it on 2 PCs and a laptop and it's saying the same thing on all of them. Needs to be plugged into USB 3.0. Even though it already is.
Normally I'd tell you to get something with a decent amount of ram and a good CPU and then just buy an upgraded GPU. Trouble is, GPUs are hard to get and overpriced.
6:08 PM
If you can somehow open up your budget to like £600-650, some options start to pop up
6:09 PM
@lars But the PCs I'm seeing at your price point aren't worth the money for your use case(edited)
Real weird issue tonight, I was streaming at sub30 FPS playing AC Valhalla through SLOBS, when I usually get a pretty solid 60. CPU utilization was at 50% with SLOBS and Valhalla running, nothing weird taking up extra CPU or anything. Only thing that fixed it was turning on Performance mode. :/
3:43 AM
The only recent change I have made software wise was installing the GoXLR app and running all my audio to SLOBS from my GoXLR, which is using less processing power since a lot is done on the hardware. Wonder if the new nVidia driver release mucked something up? So odd.(edited)
Hi, I've recently started streaming, just Spyro Remastered for now, something the viewers commented on is that they can hear my keyboard through my mic (Blue Yeti). Anyone know a surefire way to fix this? Unsure how to put in a noisegate. I'm streaming through StreamlabsOBS

I upgraded from a Seiren X, and I never had an issue with the sound, but I wanted to use a GoXLR Mini and those Seiren devices are an upgrade dead end.
@Chorazin I feel you. I bought the Yeti X as an upgrade to the Yeti because of the ability to "control" the live monitoring audio. It's not what I expected. Now I'm back to considering your exact setup
8:34 PM
I'll keep using the Yeti X until I have some extra cash to upgrade. No real rush, the Yeti X is still a great piece of tech.
Story for the day: My buddy has an amazing computer. Last Friday, in the middle of D&D, his computer goes out. He Facetimes me and shows me the inside of his case, and his GamerStorm Captian 240X water cooler was spraying coolant down onto the GPU. Needless to say, he immediately pulled out the GPU (RTX 2070) and he hauled off to my house and we bench tested it in my machine, and it works fine. He goes home, installs the GPU and a new CPU cooler, and he sets it back up. No immediate issues. Then it dies again. Shit. So I ask him "Did you pull the CPU to see if any coolant got in there?" He said no, so he pulls the CPU and there's a PUDDLE of coolant in there. I tell him to get some canned air and spray the board to drive the coolant out from under the CPU socket. So far so good! And then, he sends me this...

4:46 PM
There's like 20 bent pins... I don't know if I can fix it, but I'm certainly going to try.
I passed it off as something that doesn't really happen all that often. Now I'm wising up. My friend and I bought the same cooler the same day, so now I'm looking at mine very skeptically.
okay so someone please help me. i have upgraded to a r5 5600x and a 3070, i dont know what i should use to stream, like x264, nvenc, or (new) nvenc. I have wired interet with 900 up and down. im using streamlabs obs. when i try to stream cod mw the stream looks choppy. i also get some frame drops detected. ive tried each out encoder and various bit rates and none of them have seemed to work. Idk if my other settings are messed up or what but please someone help me. ive spent hours trying various options and to no avail im still dropping frames or it looks jittery when playing cod
@scott If you have a 3070, you should probably use NVENC (new). There are a ton of possible reasons for stuttering. Can you provide the following screenshots:
SLOBS Settings: Output (in Advanced Mode)
SLOBS Settings: Video
Input Source Properties: COD

Hey everyone! So I'm trying to add a "latest tipper" label on my OBS Studio, but my tip/donation settings is setup with streamlabs(dot)com. All my labels and alerts are setup on StreamElements but when I try to add that label, it says no data. My guess is it's because they have a separate tipping settings. On the other hand when I try to add the same label through streamlabs(dot)com, it wants me to download their program. What should I do? Thank you in advance!
You can get the Streamlabs alert bot URL from your Streamlabs dashboard, just deselect everything but Donations. and then I'm pretty sure you can use that URL as a web source in OBS

Yooooooo how come I didn’t know it was super easy to export you scenes from SLOBS to OBS???(edited)
5:32 AM
even the Prime ones

Now I have the best of both worlds I’m so happy
Chorazin
I was just commenting on my own problems with AC Valhalla and SLOBS being 60fps solid and after the new drivers turning into a slideshow, and then scott's own issues with a 3070 (edited)
SLOBS is a variant of OBS Studio. OBS can be a more lightweight compared to SLOBS, and OBS has more options for plugins. It’s really ups to you... SLOBS is easier, OBS is more full-featured by way of plugins. @TheMadVari(edited)
OBS is also less resource intensive, if you have a older computer that will help a lot.
3:19 PM
I needed access to more plug-ins so that’s why I switched over. My workflow from now on will be to build the basic scenes in SLOBS, and then import into OBS for additional plug-in support and stream from there.
@Chorazin I still use SLOBS because I can build scenes on my gaming PC and they automatically sync on my stream PC via the cloud. Being able to tap into my game PC's GPU for rendering is crucial.
3:45 PM
But I hear you on the plugins. I definitely have to give up some things that I really wanted to have.
My stream PC is technically a work PC also. The CEO gave me a budget and my boss insisted I spend the entire budget or it would be lost. I found an open box Razer Blade 15 at Best Buy within budget, so that's what I got.
Hi all. I’m looking to stream gameplay from my PC through OBS in a laptop via a capture card. I was able to get the video working but not the audio... any guidance is very appreciated
HDMI should be transferring the sound automatically, and when you choose the source in OBS the sound should just come through. Do you have the vol turned up on your gaming PC?(edited)
I've been using OBS and Twitch for several years, and used to just tidy up my streams and then export to YouTube. Saw a slow increase over the years to 750 Twitch followers and maybe 30 Youtube subs. I've just started using restream.io and streaming live to Twitch and Youtube and Facebook, and my Youtube views and subscribers have gone up noticeably. I also use the Restream chat app, so all chats get cross-posted - nice! I can see live viewer numbers on Streamlabs chatbot, and I watch my own Youtube to see numbers there - that way I can talk up the community and encourage chats. Any other tools recommended for simultabeous streams?
If you're Affiliate on Twitch, you are violating the terms of that agreement and could be banned by Twitch at any time for doing simulcast to other platforms. Just in case you didn't know. (edited)
I didn't know about that Simulcast issue - will check it out - thx
5:11 PM
Affiliate isn't making me much money anyway, maybe I'll opt out of it. I do like being on Youtube and getting some chatting going between platforms. I see that Streamlabs has a multi-stream option too, is that preferred? I think I would need to change from OBS to SLOBS though.(edited)
I'm used to OBS Studio and don't need all the overlays etc for SLOBS, so no real need to move. Plus you need SLOBS Prime to multistream I think, and not sure how they handle multi-chat. Restream.io has a chat app that tags them all and shares back to all platforms.
oooh! sounds awesome! ive seen some people use a second cam for a close up of their face for when something happens and they want to show their reaction
I do need to work instant replays into my scenes at some point and do stuff like that!
2:27 PM
This one is going to be at an angle so you can see my desk and stuff during just chatting scenes, and I'm going to put chat on the green screen behind me.
2:28 PM
Then switch to the front facing camera during game play
Nothing wrong with that, mine are like that right now.
2:33 PM
If I can make it work, my dream is to be a starting soon scene with me sitting at my desk live getting ready for stream in Black and While, while my current Starting Soon screen is on the green screen in color.(edited)
@SOKKA There's a ton of reasons why you could be dropping frames. Performance Mode is a bit of a band-aid IMO. For me, I want to see the preview in 99% of cases in OBS/SLOBS, so Performance Mode is out. Certain applications consume more/less resources on either the CPU or GPU, and depending on what that is you may need to tweak your source or a variety of settings. Sounds like @NeS is willing to help out, as am I if you need it.
TECH TIP: With a lot of people buying new computers (myself included) and other expensive components, it's probably about time for a couple of tips: 1. You use electricity to power your computer, and bad electricity could mean dead computer. Consider investing in a UPS/Battery Backup rated for your PC's power load. As well, check to make sure that all multi-tap devices have surge suppression. 2. If you haven't in a while, clean out the dust from your computer to reduce thermal insulation on your components. Heat is one of the biggest hindrances to performance and the most common cause for hardware failure.
Random question for any Logitech StreamCam users out there. Has anyone figured out how to stop the camera from auto-rotating? I'm using it pointing directly down, and it really likes to just suddenly go back and forth between portrait and landscape and it's annoying to me and viewers when I'm trying to paint.

@Deleted User I have experience with the Camlink and other capture cards. What do you want to know?

I just read your request in the other channel for equipment advice, I might be able to help with that depending on how far down the rabbit hole you want to go.

aah great. will the camlink decrease the quality? Is it possible to work with more than 1 camlink over OBS? and is elgato's Camlink price quality good?

That would be awesome I just started calculating the costs and I am now deciding on how to invest (seperated in Surrounding, sound, cameras, computer and lights)

Nope, I just got the message today I could create the livestream because renting a studio (old church with equipment ) was over 24k and therefore too expensive
Hahah I just work with germans here To clear some things I categorised the 10.000 euro's over several topics Zoom streamkey (with Q&A environment and our number of visitors) 500 Euro Camera's: 1 main camera (which one ???) 2000 2 side cameras Lumix G7 = 1000 Camlinks = 300 Tripods + Cables= 150 Sound: 5 lavaliers + cables + zoom H6 = 700 Computer + additional computer equipment = 2500 Stand for lighting = 0 (already in possession) Surrounding + lighting = 1500 Reserves= remaining
@Deleted User Based on the list you gave me, I could make a ton of recommendations/changes, but I want to make sure I address your technical and program requirements.
On your camera selection, because you're doing a stage setting, you might want to consider using a Panasonic HC-X1500 for your main camera, and use HC-VX981 cameras for your other shots. Unless you have a specific desire to change out lenses, using camcorders might be an easier experience.(edited)
5:37 PM
Both of those cameras are 4K, so down-sampling to 1080p will give you a great quality stream. I'm assuming you're going to shoot in 25fps, which should also be fine with these cameras. They also both use Leica lenses, so the video profiles should be pretty close out of thew box, meaning less color correction considerations.(edited)
TenderSausage
@Chorazin I figured you'd want a peek at TenderStation V3
I imagine this is a common question so apologies in advance. I am trying to inspect my clips video on Twitch to download it and I am unable to. Any ideas?

Hi guys, recently got into streaming. I have a Logitech G430 as my output headphones. Until 3 days ago my stream audio was perfectly fine even with the logitech g430 set to surround sound in g hub. 2 days ago the streaming sound went to tin can sound without changing anything. is there a way to have surround sound active as the desktop audio that i hear while the audience hears the clean audio https://www.twitch.tv/videos/928099404 tin can audio https://www.twitch.tv/videos/926725448 good audio from 3 days ago ive read that there are problems with virtual surround not being properly captured in the streaming audio, but is there a way to make this work(edited)
It definitely sounds like either the surround setting.
4:51 PM
I bet if you used Voicemeeter or another mixing app you could capture the chat audio before it gets processed by G Hub

Well, I can't recommend the Avermedia PW315, I could not get a good image from that and the official software just never found it so I could see if there was a firmware update. :/ Guess I'm trying to Kiyo Pro next, even if I thought the Kiyo looked pretty awful. Glad Amazon had a great return policy lol(edited)
It’s amazing what you can do with Lighting when you finally put two and two together that having two lights at the same brightness is just blowing out the image.
I think a desktop is the best option in this case I am going to build this: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X Be quiet! CPU cooler Dark Rock 4 Motherboard - MSI B550-A PRO ATX AM4 Storage 1TB samsung 860 pro Set 2*32 GB RAM Be quiet! PC power supply 11 750W Operating system - Windows 10 Video card - MSI Geforce GTX 1650 D6 VENTUS be quietn! Pure Base gray midi Will this be okay for streaming with : 3 camlinks soundboard obs stream
So, fun fact for anyone thinking about getting one: The Razer Kiyo Pro requires a direct connection to your PC, and won't work with a hub. For someone with VERY limited USB spots on the PC this is a irritating problem. :/(edited)
Thankfully it still works with a USB 3.0 extension cable or I would have been double boned. I just realized my GoXLR is a 2.0 device so I was able to rearrange a few things and make it work.
I did my first test stream today and thanks to a friend watching along, I found the following issues: -My game audio is nearly unhearable unless I turn it up to a point where it blasts my own ears out. -My Mic is way too sensitive. It picks up literally every sound around me, even though in the settings for it I turned the sensitivity wayyy down. -I use my headset Mic (Roccat Khan Aimo) for now, cause I don't have the money for a more professional Mic yet. -Even when trying an audio splitter to manage the game audio seperately from what I hear, OBS just didn't pick anything up. If anyone can help me with any of these issues, I'd very much appreciate it(edited)

Hey, I want someone to pls tell me the minimum (the least) of the specs which I would be needing to go live on YT keeping in mind I won't be playing any games. I just want enough juice that the stream won't crash due to the load I would just be there live to teach online on the platform. All suggestions are appreciated. Thank you
@Deleted User It all depends on what content you're pushing up, and the quality you desire. Do you have any comments there? Are you going to be using a specific software, using one or more cameras, input devices, do you want alerts, on -screen chat, etc. I don't mean to inundate you, but I'd hate to point you toward a purchase that isn't the right fit fort your use case
thank u for your suggestion and to answer your ques... I want my stream in 1080 60p with obs connected to a dslr with on which i would be controlling a ppt running with the stream i hope this much info is enough if not u can ask me more thank you(edited)
Not sure if this is the best spot for this question but what is a good camera you would suggest for a newcomer. I have a decent webcam, but it only fits on top of the monitor and I don’t like the positioning, so I would like something that I can have on its own stand and position as needed.
@Deleted User That is actually very good information. I can put together a memory/cpu usage profile for you. This is more in-line with a productivity stream rig, not a gaming rig, so the requirements/budget are a bit different.
5:04 PM
@Vixyn Between @Chorazin and myself, we've tried a ton of cameras. It kind of depends on your budget, based on what you've said thus far.

It’s not something I would be able to get right away as budget is pretty non existent. If it’s something I could get for $200 or less that would be great, but a little more is fine, I would just need to save up for it more
A Microsoft LifeCam. My husband bought it when he started streaming. Like I said it’s a decent little webcam, just with the set up right now i find it to be sitting a little high, but there’s no where else to put it. Just looking into other options for the future
@Vixyn Does it have the threaded hole on the bottom (1/4"-20), or is it the kind with the flexible rubber arm thing?(edited)
5:30 PM
If it has a 1/4"-20 mount, you can get a boom/articulating arm mount for your camera and try to set it in a better position. I use SmallRig clamps and arms, personally.
5:30 PM
If the camera isn't really all that bad, it might be cheaper to get a better mount.

So I have some friends coming over to play Towerfall and would like to stream our game play. I ahve an elgato capture card in my PC. So I have my switch connected to the in port of the card, and the out port is connected to the tv. but my tv isnt displaying the switch... I thought that is how it worked? what the hell am I doing wrong?
Hey friends, got a bit of a noob streamer question if anyone is able to help.. I’d like to stream some music production stuff, I use Logic Pro on a Mac Mini. Mini alone runs a little too hot for production and streaming all at once, so I bought a dedicated streaming PC. In order to pipe my display output from Mac mini into my PC, is it as simple as buying a Thunderbolt to USB adapter and plugging into PC for video source? Or would further setup be required? Mac mini has only 1 HDMI out but also has Thunderbolt out which can be used for secondary display, so I’m assuming should work fine but any input or suggestions would be helpful!
@TenderSausage Thanks for the reply. That makes sense. Its a 2019 Mini. Another suggestion I got on this setup was getting a capture card with multiple outputs. So using one output for a monitor and the other one to my PC. Currently I have the single in and out CamLink so I guess Id have to upgrade!
@steve2351 I don’t follow. Capture cards like the HD60 have an HDMI in, a pass-through HDMI out, and a USB port, but from what you’ve described, I don’t see how that would help you. The CamLink should be sufficient.
@TenderSausage Sorry I may be describing my situation poorly. I have a CamLink 4K. I could use the HDMI out from the Mini and feed it directly to the CamLink but I’d also like to monitor it as well. My question is how to best setup a separate monitor and also feed the display to PC given the specs of MacMini 2019. I’m not sure I know what you mean by a pass through HDMI out, seems to be only USB out on CamLink. Apologies in advance for my noobery!
In your situation, you would run a monitor the way you run it now, and run a separate output to the CamLink. You have a monitor and an input to your stream PC.
3:43 AM
Mirror the outputs in OSX so that they are the same signal. All you need it a mini-DP to HDMI cable to go from the Mac mini to the CamLink
3:44 AM
Unless the situation is that you have one monitor for two computers.
@TenderSausage Ok thanks I think I got you. One thing I was confused about was the mini DP, I didn't realize Thunderbolt output (which the MacMini has) will support the mini DP to HDMI cable.
Yes, a 3200G would work. It is technically less powerful than the 2600X, and I said I wouldn't recommend anything lower than that, but since you asked specifically, yes the 3200G should work, given you follow the other RAM and GPU advice.
does anyone know a camera i can use to stream, im using it to stream an overhead view so im also gonna use a tripod, i don't want something too expense
hey guys, anyone know offhand if a Canon rebel T6 is compatible with the Elgato CamLink? Already own the camera, but not an Hdmi cord to test it out if the output is "clean"
hey guys, anyone know offhand if a Canon rebel T6 is compatible with the Elgato CamLink? Already own the camera, but not an Hdmi cord to test it out if the output is "clean"
Thank You for that, I already checked that compatibility video. I dont have the mini HDMI cable to check the output before buying the dummy battery and such, as well as having the basic T6 not the T6i. I imagine there are enough similarities though idk for sure
@Loki68 So, yes, the T6i will work. I have a 60D, which is essentially an upgraded T6i. The issue with Canon cameras historically is clean HDMI output.
8:42 PM
You might want to look into using MagicLantern firmware on your camera, because it will give you much more control over the camera/output.
8:42 PM
I didn't check to see if the T6i has a supported build, but I would imagine it does.
8:43 PM
The dummy battery is a must, so be prepared for that.
Okay I was working on routing my cables in my computer better than I had originally. I plugged the computer in and it'll turn on and everything but my monitors isn't getting a signal
It will get some power from the motherboard, but most modern GPUs have a secondary power connection. If yours requires additional power, it will need that connection.(edited)
Nope. Everything seems to be fine. I'm wondering if when I was pulling the cords out they could have something happen. They are the ones I got out of the box
6:06 AM
Like it was working fine a minute ago and I took it down try and reroute some cables that attach to my sata connector
No 4 pin at all. I think it was either a 6 pin or 8. Same amount as my 2060 but used different cords. Only reason I remember that is cause I mixed the 2 up when I first put it together.
I'm gonna start simple in the morning. Try and change the cords to the monitors and see if that's the issue. If that not then I'll start dealing with the cords inside my computer, thankfully they sent me more than enough in the power supply box
@RedReepar if you are still trying to capture your desktop audio without getting your teammates in (assuming they are in discord or something), you'll need to split your audio. Lots of people use Voicemeeter Banana
TenderSausage
I suppose the above also assumes you're playing on a PC. With console streaming, it might be more difficult. What are you streaming, exactly?
If you are using a console with a capture card, you'll need a way on the console to prevent chat audio from being sent over HDMI. Each console is a little different, and I (unfortunately) only own a Switch and can't comment on specifics for PS or XBOX.
7:59 PM
I recall there being ways to do that within the settings of the console or the specific chat app you're using (i.e. Discord), but again, I have no actual experience with it. Sorry I can't be more helpful, @RedReepar. Maybe someone else can chime in who has experience.
@Deleted User Those will work so long as it is a Switch that is docked (not a Switch Lite or using the port on the bottom of a Switch console).(edited)
@TenderSausage hey just figured you'd find this interesting. I took my computer to microcenter this morning. The guy tested everything he could think of, even switched out graphics cards and power supply. We decided the motherboard or the cpu must be at fault(edited)

When I was swapping out the stock cooler for the asus cooler three cpu went along for the ride. But I would think it wouldn't have worked at all after that if something happened to the cpu and it was working fine
I fixed this lad’s mobo after a similar experience. It would post, but as soon as you threw anything at the GPU, it would shut down. Pulled the CPU and found this. It’s much harder to do with CPUs that have pins instead of pads, like Intel.
2:59 PM
So unless you see an evidently bent or missing pin, it’ll be harder to track down/fix
Yeah. But microcenter has my computer so they are gonna check it and since I bought both my cpu (ryzen 5 5600) and my motherboard (aorus b550 elite v2) there they can swap either out for me
Yep. And I mean they looked for loose cables, swapped out my graphics card, swapped out the power supply, even swapped the ram to see if that did anything.
