KNOWN ISSUES WITH OBS/ELGATO/OTHERS AND NEW MACBOOK WITH M1 CHIP If you've recently purchased a new MacBook with the M1 chip in it, there are many known issues with OBS, Elgato devices, and other streaming hardware and software. It will get fixed eventually. If you're having issues with something, feel free to bring it up here, but there may not be an immediate fix available, so please be patient. IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING A MACBOOK FOR STREAMING: Please wait, or make sure you have an Intel i5 or greater? Macbooks are fantastic for content creation softwares like ProTools/Premier/Final Cut, but have lagged behind PC substantially in streaming due to recent hardware changes outpacing software updates. Until these changes happen to better support the M1 chip, it's hard to recommend the new MacBook for streaming. An Intel-based Macbook still works fine, but I recommend at least an i5 quad-core for streaming purposes.
Hi everyone - my job is working on a livestreamed concert, but with multiple participants from around the US. We'd like to try and have it go through one streaming output. Has anyone attempted something like this, and if so, how?
Easily transition to video over IP with NDI, Network Device Interface technology, and ready-to-use software enabling interconnected production workflows.
Question regarding Xbox series x and overlays So right now I have the new Xbox series X... I am trying to stream twitch with my elgato and MacBook Air. My streams are pretty laggy and the FPS are bad. I’ve read that it may be the laptop not having enough power.... Now I have streamed twitch directly through my Xbox but it doesn’t have any of the overlays. Is it possible to transfer my streamlabs overlays to the twitch site and use them directly from my Xbox? Thanks
@Rrizzle No,. I don't believe so. And regarding your MBA, you are probably right about the power. I believe the minimum for any Elgato 60FPS product is a quad-core i5 MacBook Pro or better.
Hey guys I have a question for the more knowledgeable, depending on what game I play I am having frame drops. Could this be a CPU or GPU issue? Just trying to figure out so I can stream different content. Thanks in advance
@TenderSausage its just frames drops in the stream itself not on my side. i dont really know how else to explain it. like its fine on my side but its choppy and messed up on stream. its not always like this its just occasionally
I have a similar question. I’m using a GeForce evga rtc 2060 with the driver installed with an AMD Ryzen 7 3800x 8 core processor. I’m using stream labs with the Output encoder on hardware nvenc (new), cbr rate control, 6000 bitrate at 2 key frame interval, preset on performance with profile set to high. GPU at 0 and max b-frames at 2
Hi guys, I started streaming after a pause. I stream on facebook in 720p (that's maximum) with NVENC new codec. Everything runs smoothly until I start playing League of Legends, where during fights the quality drops significantly. It looks terrible and stutters, but I don't have any fps drops in streamlabs. I have r5 3600 and rtx 2060 super. Had 6000 bitrate. Settings are cbr, quality, profile high, psycho visual tuning, and b-frame 2. My upload is 50mbpshttps://testmy.net/db/2ScLxVn2Y Any help, please?(edited)
I've been trying to cast my phone screen/audio to PC so i can stream it from there, but i can't cast the audio without also casting the phone's microphone audio, anyone know of a way or app that i can use for Casting?
@blakor I want to be clear of the end goal. You want to see the device screen, hear the device audio, and see the device's camera, but not hear the device's microphone. Is that correct?
Hello, So I am having a problem when I try to stream FiveM with SLOBS. I keep dropping frames in-game as well as on slobs/twitch. I have a I9-9900k with a 1070. With these specs do I use NVENC(new) or x264.
Does anyone know of a program that will allow me to use the keyboard on another computer to control obs on my computer? becuase i would like to use another keyboard as like a streamdeck type thing

Hi, i have a GeForce MX 150 graphics card and an 8th gen i5 processor and would like to stream on twitch. I use OBS Studio but always have lag issues, idk if its an issue with my resource management (everything going onto one processor) or a hardware issue but i have a card comprable to a streamer that i watch. ty for any help u can provide.
Heyy sorry I’m very new to this, still in the process of building gaming PC and buying streaming equipment. I’m just trying to educate myself best I can before I actually get goin

You can assume I know nothing lol.
2:35 AM
Like I’ve heard conflicting things

Like say i want to stream mario kart 8. I mean all those characters are obviously copyrighted so how does anyone do it?
hey guys. i wanted to get back to streaming on sunday and i realized LogiCapture is not working anymore as a webcam. I used to use that option to customize my camera zoom and angles and stuff. did i mess up something or its intended? Software: Streamlabs OBS, LogiCapture
Good morning fellas. I just built my dedicated streaming pc. I was very frustrated when learning about Capture cards and how I wouldn't get to use my 1440p 144hz if I didn't spend $$$ on a card that was capable of that passthrough. I don't have the money for those. So of course I was led to tutorials of duplicating my high res/refresh screen to the card. I can get the FPS easy. However there isn't a game giving me the option for 1440, sticking me at 1080p. However windows and other apps clearly run my monitor at the correct resolution.
Sorry @Vismund_Cygnus and @DakotahBill, I expected to be home today but had a change in plans. I should be around on the 26th to help with troubleshooting. Thanks for understanding.
Hey, someone here with a USM Haller desktop table? Unfortunately the table is 2 cm thick but has an additional 5 cm edge, which would be too much for the Elgato Keylight / mount (6cm/2.35in). Is there any workaround for it? Or do I have to use the on desk solution from the multi mount / keylight air?
I use a Canon 60D, and I do not prefer it. I'll be buying a Sony a6400 next.
3:48 PM
The 60D is fine, and the T6 would essentially be the same but with a plastic body. Right now, I use my C922 Pro stream most, because it's decent. The Canon T6/60D doesn't have autofocus, so you're locked at one focal distance. You will need a capture card; the Canon EOS app doesn't have support for our cameras.
3:50 PM
Optically, the 60D/T6 will be FAR superior to my C922. Like, the individual frame quality is amazing, and can get even better with prime or cine lenses. I use an EFS 24mm wide open at 2.8f, and it's great.
Need some assistance troubleshooting my stream quality... PC Specs CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz MoBo - MSI x570 Gaming Edge (MS-7C37) RAM - Ripjaws V Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4 3600 GPU - ZOTAC Gaming GeForce GTX 1660 Super 2 monitors: MSI Optix 27" 165Hz (1920x1080) 1ms response time I-In iH8282 28" 60hz (1920x1200) 3ms response time In OBS I'm showing no dropped frames, bitrate's solid the whole time, and I first noticed the issue when I was playing CoD, so I dropped graphics to about the lowest settings and the issue persisted. Then I played Fall Guys, Rocket League, and the same thing happens. A choppy, stuttering mess on my stream. The max percentage my CPU usage hits is 83% and it really became an issue when I got my 2nd monitor. I'm assuming it's a graphical issue with my card, but wanted to see if anyone knew any decent fixes? I've tried running it at 720 on both the game and in OBS, but it's still a prevalent issue.
@xDukeOfDookie I watched your most recent video on Twitch and I see what you're talking about. Lots of skipped frames. I also noticed a pretty steep bitrate drop . Can you take a screenshot of your most recent stream graph at https://inspector.twitch.tv and post it here?(edited)

@DakotahBill and @Vismund_Cygnus I'll be around today if you still need troubleshooting help.
I’ll hit you up later I need to buy a pro controller for switch lol

Sorry, the Output Tab, but on the Advanced view. At the very top of the output tab is a selection for Simple or Advanced. Switch it to Advanced.(edited)
Idk if this is where to ask but whats better, a 5600x or 3800x for streaming I've that the 5600x runs games usually faster but will the 2 cores and 4 threads really make that big of a difference for the 3800x to be my choice?!?(edited)
@KinoBoomBoom If you can buy a 5600X, I encourage you to do so, but finding one in stock is a huge challenge. That issue alone may make the choice easier if you want a computer any time soon.
10:43 PM
@WickedTurtle Could be a short in the cable. Try a different HDMI cable.
@TenderSausage this is what I get, when I unplug the output pasthrough, the incoming signal comes in fine

anyone here who streams using the ps4, what does your setup look like? I am currently just playing with some earphones which have a mic and that's how i setup my audio. i am looking into buying a ps4 camera but not sure if it is worth it? any suggestions are helpful!
Stream Cam Issues Hi All, I am trying to get the StreamCam working, but i keep getting some flavour of the "camera in use" error. It will open once in the windows camera app but then not again until i restart. Seems to work in chrome often though and zoom worked pre windows reinstall but not tried since. In Logitech capture or Nvidia broadcast it does not work, it sometimes loads in OBS But is forced in a square res and doesn't work if i manually set the res This is a fresh install of windows, but I was having the issue before the reinstall. Things I checked From what I can tell (camera) drivers are up to date System drivers are up to date Logitech capture, NVidia broadcast are up to date (no I am not trying both at the same time) Windows is up to date (20H2 - 19042) Privacy settings look right Plugged into a USB-C Port Things I have tried Reinstalls of software and drivers Registry tweak mentioned somewhere Resetting camera app many many restarts Disabling Malware bytes Restarting relevant services Disabling device in DevMngmt, turning off all apps that use camera, enabling device and then opening cam software SFC /Scannow, Dism (refresh image / health cannot remember exact command) Fails when I try windows hello face Clean boot hasn’t helped Using the Device ID And ProcessMonitor doesn’t show anything using the device or driver I don’t think I have to many USB Devices, plenty of ports left and I moved some stuff to USB2 to rule this out Windows troubleshooter doesn’t show anything helpful tried unplugging and replugging any ideas?
That took a long time, and it seems to have helped but not solved the issue. However, i think i may have been wrong with what the issue is Using Logitech capture, it only seems to work in 720p50 Granted thats fine for what ill be using it for but i still want to get it right. (its worked after reopenings too) Not something that had occurred before, but one of the first things i had been doing when trying was once i had it working was to set it to 1080P60, And this has only came to mind as the error occurred as i changed the value this time. NB I Have done a reinstall of Logitech Capture and USB Drivers Its a 3.1 Port so i would be surprised if it doesn't have enough bandwidth and the other 3.1 port (Type A) Is unused as thats what i plug VR Into when i use it (Not been plugged in for months)
@TenderSausage Turned my PC On this morning and its working, so i have to put it down to being that for whatever reason it doesn't want to run in its full resolution ♂️ Thanks for the help
When i plug the cable from the the splitter to the streaming pc it looks good. But when I plug the cable from the splitter to the monitor where I'm playing it looks like that
I also use a powered splitter to a capture stick. I was getting some issues (audio lag, tearing, lag) The splitter takes one (up to) 2k resolution A/V and splits it into two HD (1920 x 1080) 60fps signals. One goes to my TV (regular signal) BUT my capture stick receives 60 frames but captures only 30. I set the source to 30 fps and boom works fine. Also I had to power on my A/V source (console) AND have the splitter on BEFORE I plug my capture stick in.
here's the thing, if i plug the splitter to the streaming pc first it looks good on any resoluton, but when i plug the second hdmi (from the splitter to the monitor where i'll be playing) it starts to look bad
@mama_lucha I'd like to confirm the following is true. In all cases, Game PC to Splitter, then: 1. Splitter to Monitor works fine WITHOUT Game PC connected; 2. Splitter to Game PC works fine WITHOUT Monitor connected; 3. Splitter to both Game PC and Monitor causes weird issues on the Stream PC and the Monitor works fine.
Is the splitter powered? It has to be a powered splitter or it can't amp the signal
8:04 PM
Also a common mistake is trying to use a switch instead of a splitter.
8:07 PM
I'd also echo make sure all of your refresh rates are the same or divisible by the lowest rate (30)

@mama_lucha The issue is that your Game PC is using the highest output refresh rate in the output chain, in this case probably 144hz from the monitor. This means that both the monitor AND the capture device are getting 144hz. The capture device probably can't handle 1080p144 coming in, so that's what it looks like. Bottom Line: You need to dial back the output on your Game PC to a refresh rate that's equal to the refresh rate of your capture card.(edited)
Hey everyone, I am considering picking up a goxlr but wanted to get some insight first. I want to use it with two different computers but not as a 2 PC streaming setup. Instead I am looking to use my mic with my work computer for zoom calls and with my gaming pc. How easy is it to swap the goxlr from one computer two another? Can I have different profiles setup on the two computers? Are there issues with swapping between two computers like this? Some of the online reviews say there are issues with the profiles - these are generally older reviews have these issue been fixed now?
@lanrest I suppose it depends on how accessible a USB port will be on each computer. You won't be able to use the GoXLR simultaneously on two computers without some additional setup. As for profiles, yes, each computer would have its own profiles per the software on each machine. As for profile issues, I don't own a GoXLR currently, so I can't speak first-hand.(edited)

Thanks, @TenderSausage the final point is really the key one for me. Some of the advice I have seen online includes people advising never to unplug the usb as it can mean you have to redo all your profiles. They are however 1+year old reviews and it looks like there have been firmware updates since.
Hey guys, I don’t know if this qualifies, but my church could use some help. We need to replace the computer running OBS for streaming. Would you recommend getting a desktop with a graphics card, even low end? Or just an i7 (looking for longevity) with a decent amount of ram? Trying to set them up for a long while but not break the bank. Any help would be appreciated!
@Vehicroid AMD is right now the best bang for your buck stuff, but, I lowkey think all of the AMD Red would put em off (assuming it's a christian church)
10:15 PM
(That last bit was a joke BTW)
10:15 PM
If ya want to troll them, get a red devil card lol they're decently cheap and great
@SomeTexanGuy I really wish I could help you with those clip-on lights. Everything I use either has a 1/4"-20 tripod hole, a hot shoe mount, or 5/8"-27 mic stand mount.
5:08 PM
@Vehicroid I'd ask for more budget. I've helped five or six churches with stream setups and if it's possible, see if you can get closer to the $1,500 mark. The last thing you want is for the church to buy "just enough" now and have it seem like a money pit over time. Buy once, cry once, and it will be less of a problem.
5:09 PM
That extra $500 in budget can go a long way in the mid-range systems.
Hello, thank you for reading this. I got a question can I stream in 720p 60 fps. This is my ethernet PING ms19 DOWNLOAD Mbps94.35 UPLOAD Mbps7.88 My pc configurations are: I5 6400 GTX 1050 8GB RAM DDR4 1TB HDD
Im in the market for a webcam (for online meetings, etc but also for streams) but the quality is normally shit. What are other options to record higher quality video? A DSLR with a capture card?
@Thi-Ming A DSLR with a capture card is a great option, but make sure you do a good amount of research. I use a Canon 60D, and it's optically amazing but has a slough of issues, so I end up using my c922 a lot more than I'd like to. If budget isn't an issue, look at Sony's mirrorless cameras. The a6000 is affordable, is amazing with the kit lens, has live autofocus, and a clean output over HDMI.
5:15 PM
If budget is a concern, you could use an old cellphone with an NDI app or link then using USB. Cell phones have good sensors and decent optics, so if you have a spare lying around, that's worth looking at too. I wouldn't recommend using your main phone for this because it can cause battery issues.(edited)
Anybody know how I can fix my webcam quality for streaming through OBS? I have a Logitech c920 and I followed some Youtube videos to try to improve the quality. They had me install the drivers for it and it looks SO cwispy there, but in OBS/SLOBS it's SO pixelated.
@The LIC If you have to reinstall, just copy the OBS folder in C:\Users\ <your_username>\AppData\Roaming to your desktop, uninstall OBS, Reinstall OBS, and then replace the OBS folder with the one from your desktop. All of the scenes should be there.(edited)
also i replaced that file like you said and now it wont launch at all "the procedure entry point ak;sdihfak;sdhfaklsdhfkljasdhf could not be located in the dynamic link library"

How do you use non copyright music? I found some music on YouTube and I want to add it to my livestreams, the youtuber said that it's fine to use this music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLcw3dK1yU0&t=141s but I don't know HOW to use it, do I look for a link in the description, do I message the youtuber, can I just download the whole playlist at once? Do I need an app to download it? Should I just get non copyright music elsewhere?(edited)
There are also tools for OBS, like MusicBuddy, that will allow you to generate a text file with the artist and song title, which you could display on-screen using a GDI+ Text layer.
ok I know I need a media browser source for playing music on OBS studio and I know that the media browser uses local files, so how do I download that playlist without breaching YouTube's terms of service?(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLcw3dK1yU0&t=141s)
ok I figured out how to add music to streamelements I just had to go to the media request page, what was weird was their wasn't a designated tab for the page Where I'm at right now is figuring out where the media share widget is in the overlay editor. I can't find the widget, and the streamelements tutorial said I need it so my music overlay will play music from media request StreamElements Media request (Song request & Media share)-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17eUkoZ6eIs&feature=emb_logo(edited)
@The LIC I don't recall how we went about fixing the live status thing... I'll have to look back at my notes because I recall your setup being slightly finicky...
Looking for tips on audio equipment. I just got a Elgato capture card and want to start streaming with a dual pc setup. I have a blue snowball microphone that i want to use for my stream. But when I'm actually gaming, I want my friends/teammates/etc to hear the microphone from my wireless Logitech G Pro X headset. At this point, just to get everything up and running, do I just need a mixer so that i can hear my stream audio?
my friends could definitely tell a difference when i went from the snowball to the headset. i've considered going back to just the snowball and not using the headset mic anymore. it just picks up more background noise than the headset mic
5:29 PM
they said it didnt sound as clear but overall it wasnt too bad
@LaFlamaBlanca There may be some things you can do to correct that. One thing is proximity; Get the microphone within 6-8 inches of your mouth.(edited)
5:30 PM
Like, reeeeaaaaal close
5:30 PM
That way you can turn the gain down and pick up less ambient environmental noise
5:31 PM
There's also some effects you can apply, like gates and compressors that will reduce that, too
5:31 PM
That's one big reason why the headset mic sounds so good.
5:33 PM
Blue markets the Snowball like it should be on a desk a foot or more away, but that's just not how it works.
5:38 PM
Placement is important too. Look at your screen and draw a straight line from your mouth to your monitor. Your microphone should be in that path.(edited)
5:39 PM
Sorry, I'm kind of soap-boxing. I don't know if any of this is helpful to you.
No you're good! I appreciate it! I just moved so I haven't actually gamed or anything in a week or two, but i just remembered why I wanted to get away from the snowball mic. I couldnt find a place for it that didnt bother me. I dont like it between my face and my monitor, so i tried having it above the monitor, that sort of works. I guess I could try that again, but i still end up being about 1-2 feet from the microphone.
5:45 PM
When you say turn the gain down, is that something that can be down in the voicemeeter program?
5:48 PM
Also does voicemeeter run on the stream PC ? or the gaming PC? or both?
@LaFlamaBlanca In my setup, I run VoiceMeeter on my game PC only, but I think I'm going to be changing that today, actually. I want to play around with virtual cables so I can have Discord on the Stream PC instead of on my Game PC.
i had that issue before, go to settings and look in the advanced tab, if it's bound to an IP make sure it's the right one, if you've moved address or changed IP recently you'll need to update it there. @TotallyVintage(edited)
