@samfarmerrr what are you using to stream, as in software and capture laptop or pc or console? gotta be a littttle more specific but ill try to help

@samfarmerrr are you using the mic in the party mode setting or only game mode? and is it picked up on the twitch setup screen? as in does it recognize the mic? I usually use the mic in the panels on screen so i can see audio pickup...are you having any thing like that indicate audio?
Avatar
samfarmerrr 8/3/2020 4:19 PM
How do you find the audio settings on the twitch thing?
4:20 PM
@Slackindj
Avatar
Slackindj 8/3/2020 4:22 PM
@samfarmerrr when you started the stream it would have given you options before you simply went live. That screen would be the main broadcast menu, not sure if its viewable once you start a stream but it has the Party chat and Game chat options there make sure you have them UNMUTED.
Avatar
samfarmerrr 8/3/2020 4:26 PM
It only says party chat for me :/
4:29 PM
You don’t have that option?
4:29 PM
Are you using the new version of twitch?
Avatar
samfarmerrr 8/3/2020 4:52 PM
So j have that do I have to put party chat to 0?
4:52 PM
@Slackindj
Avatar
Slackindj 8/3/2020 4:52 PM
No if you want GAME chat it needs to be set to having game chat included. Party chat is separate.
4:53 PM
If you’re in a party it won’t pick up game chat. If you’re in a party in-game that’s game chat.
Avatar
samfarmerrr 8/3/2020 4:54 PM
Yeah I’m in the party in game but still can’t hear my game chat
4:54 PM
It’s weird

Ok so question i am trying to log onto my old pc and clean the hard drive up to either turn it into a streaming rig or sell it. It is running at 100% disk usage and will not let me run any gpu driver updates whether I use GeForce application or download from nvidia website
7:05 PM
Anyone had this issue with new / old rigs before?

History i originally ran my pc on this HDD until about 3 years ago got a new SSD, GPU and CPU for OS

Hey! So I'm using twitch studio to stream instead of OBS. I can only stream 720, 60fps and I can't remember exactly but I think bitrate is either 4500 or 6000. I drop frames and the quality isn't as good as I'd like it to be. I read that streamer quality is capped at 720 for non partners? And also guessing it's because of my internet? I don't suppose there is any way I can stream 1080 or make it look better? Skyrim sometimes look so blocky and laggy. It also seems a bit fuzzy but I guess it's because I'm used to watching 1080? Would I be better off using OBS? Twitch studio just seems simpler to me. Secondly I noticed recently that the videos and stream audio lag in premiere Pro. It never used to happen, but now the audio desyncs every now and again. I keep matching the audio up again but at one point it was a total of 10mins out of sync in a 40min video. I tried handbreak app, but the audio is so far behind it just can't cope. Wondered if there was a way to fix this or any idea why it's happening as it never used to? It's more annoying than a huge issue and I can work with it. Just not sure why it's been happening recently.
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/3/2020 10:57 PM
@Legendairy Yes, this happens a lot with older rigs that haven't been run in a while. Typically, it's a number of Windows Defender updates or other Windows subtasks whacking the HDD up to 100%. Just give it time, they will eventually finish.
10:58 PM
@Zeek Can you post your specs for us?

Hello! New to this server. Is anyone here experienced with the Elgato HD60S? More specifically streaming on my Xbox One using the capture card through my MacBook
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/3/2020 10:59 PM
@proGRAHM Yep, what would you like to know?
Avatar
@TenderSausage hello! So I’m able to project my party chats audio through my stream, but my voice will not project unto my stream. I’m using a top tier turtle beach wireless headset for reference. My software is auto detecting my internal mic on my macbook, which I’m sure is the issue. After researching for a while, I’m pretty much stumped
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/3/2020 11:07 PM
@proGRAHM What application are you using on your MBP to stream? (edited)
Avatar
@TenderSausage the el gato software that I downloaded from their site. I was able to sign into my twitch account through the app
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/3/2020 11:14 PM
Your Turtle Beach is plugged in to where? Your MBP, or your Xbox One?
Avatar
@TenderSausage It is wirelessly connected to the Xbox one. It is connected like a controller would wirelessly connect
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/3/2020 11:17 PM
I don’t think this is an issue with your MBP or the HD60S, and unfortunately I’m not well-verses in console settings.
11:17 PM
My guess is there’s a setting that will allow the audio from your headset to stream out on the HDMI, but I’m not sure.
Avatar
I’m able to project my party members voices into the stream, but I think the internal mic is keeping my voice out. Not sure
11:18 PM
As in the internal mic for the MBP
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/3/2020 11:22 PM
That makes sense to me. The way I understand your setup, you have a headset that's connected to your Xbox One and not your MBP. Remember that the HD60S is picking up all of the OUTPUTS from the source, in this case the Xbox One, so it will definitely hear your friends, but won't hear you.
11:23 PM
In order for the HD60S to hear you, there needs to be a setting enabled that will allow your voice to go out through the HDMI, which would be a setting somewhere that I'm not aware of, perhaps another Xbox One streamer can chime in here.
11:24 PM
Is there any reason why you don't use the Twitch App directly on the Xbox One?
Avatar
@TenderSausage For a few reasons I do not, 1 I have an older Xbox which isn’t as good for twitch based application streaming and 2 the HDS60 allows me to get better frames and access certain overlays etc. when streaming through my console
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/3/2020 11:26 PM
@proGRAHM Those reasons make sense. (edited)
11:28 PM
I'm a little out of my element on this one, but it sounds like an issue related to your headset being an input to the Xbox and not your MBP. (edited)
11:28 PM
Think about it this way... When you plug your HDMI from your Xbox One into your TV, you don't hear your own voice coming out of the TV, correct? (edited)
11:29 PM
The HD60S is getting the same AV signal as your TV, and if your voice isn't coming out of the TV, it's not going to come though to the HD60S.
11:32 PM
@Legendairy Is that older machine running Windows 7?
Avatar
Think I should contact Elgato? @TenderSausage
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/4/2020 12:01 AM
@proGRAHM Like I said, it’s a configuration issue. You have an input device in to the Xbox that doesn’t get output through the HDMI. If there’s a setting that will allow your mic input to be sent out via the HDMI from your Xbox to the Elgato, then it will work. I’m fairly certain Elgato will tell you the same.
Avatar
@TenderSausage I gotcha. In that case, should I get a 3rd party microphone to plug into the jack for the HD60S? My party members would still hear me through my headset, and the stream would hear me through that secondary mic
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/4/2020 12:18 AM
Yep
Avatar
@TenderSausage out of curiosity, will both my headset mic and the 3rd party mic cause any static or interference with one another?

Avatar
@TenderSausage figured out that it’ll need to be a separate audio source for my voice to be broadcast. Any recommendations on budget friendly mics? Can it be USB?
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/4/2020 4:33 AM
@proGRAHM "Budget-friendly" is a pretty subjective term. I bought my Yeti for $89 and I thought that was pretty budget-friendly for what I got.
4:34 AM
I've since upgraded to the Yeti X for $169.99. While not as budget-friendly, the voice quality is amazing for a USB condenser.
4:35 AM
IN your case, I think you can use a USB since you're going to be plugging it in to your MBP (Right?).
Avatar
$89 is for sure budget friendly @TenderSausage ! And yes it’ll be plugged into the MBP. So it is safe to assume the MBP will identify USB mic as the default internal mic within the Elgato software?
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/4/2020 4:56 AM
@proGRAHM All you'll need to do is change the default microphone device in MacOS to your new microphone. It should show up in System Preferences -> Sound -> Input.
Avatar
Perfect!
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/4/2020 4:57 AM
@proGRAHM I've not used the software Elgato supplies with the HD60S, because I use a different software that I prefer to use. (edited)
4:58 AM
But I would wager the Elgato software would use the system default device.

I've been forced to change servers but have sacrificed bitrate in exchange (2.7k from 4k)

4:26 PM
it's set to the smart tuning settings. I'm guessing it might be to do with bitrate and my internet dropping?
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/6/2020 4:42 PM
@Zeek You could try switching the encoder to software and seeing if that helps. What I don't understand is why your bitrate is spiking over 7K.
4:43 PM
Looking at your graph and the max bitrate value, it's at 7,016kbps...
Avatar
Yeah I think it lags and drops frames when it goes over that. But is shouldn't be going over 4500?
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/6/2020 4:55 PM
I mean, within reason...
4:55 PM
I would say spikes up to 5500 would be normal, but 7000 seems high
4:55 PM
@Zeek You could also try turning off Psycho Visual Tuning and see if that changes anything.
4:56 PM
The documentation on Twitch Studio is almost nil, so I've installed it and will play around with it as much as I can to see what it's doing compared to my OBS and SLOBS installs.

6:22 PM
I like what Twitch Studio is trying to do... It looks very simple
6:22 PM
But there are a number of questions I have about the inner workings
Avatar
Ah I also just remembered, the test stream was done via OBS and the previous stream was twitch studio
6:25 PM
So OBS is maxing 3000 and twitch studio is doing 7000. So maybe OBS will be better. I'll set it up over the weekend and try some streams next week as see :)
Avatar
I prefer streamlabs to OBS but it does run a bit heavier for SL than OBS just a thing to think about

Runs a bit heavier? I think I have that installed actually on my OBS. It's waaayyy too hot here rn to do anything that needs brain power

Stick to a schedule. Stream same time on the same days, so people know when to expect you and to turn up. Also interact with chat as much as you can. People are more likely to come back then, some come for the gameplay others come for the personality

i have a problem with my clips, when i stream or record anything it becomes weird, some like white balance is messed up and its pixelated even though my quality is set to max. I tried lower settings too, so it shouldn't be a problem

TenderSausage 8/10/2020 9:02 PM
Something like this
9:02 PM
There are a ton of options
9:03 PM
But like I said, a mixer will still work if that's what you want to do
9:03 PM
But you'll need a way to connect it to your PC, which uses 3.5mm stereo (unless you have an audio card that supports RCA input
9:04 PM
So a straight RCA cable will need to be adapted
9:04 PM
you might as well get the right cable from the get-go
9:04 PM
This one is ~$10
9:05 PM
You will run the RCA output (9/10) from the mixer to your microphone input on your PC
Avatar
Deleted User 8/10/2020 9:07 PM
so i will want RCA input/output for the mic to pc part to mixer and a 3.5mm adapter for the audio/speakers? ideally i'm going to wire my subwoofer/speakers and mic through the mixer into my pc

@lalahh. Sorry for the late reply. One thing you can try is to pump up the bitrate to 6000. That should make the quality a bit better.
10:24 PM
Especially if you're going to be at 720p
10:24 PM
Twitch maxes at 6000kbps, so you might as well crank it up unless you start to see performance issues
10:25 PM
I don't think I ever asked about your specs.
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/10/2020 11:07 PM
Depending on your specs @lalahh., you might be able to bump the CPU usage preset to "faster" or even "Fast" and get better looking video. I have mine cranked to "Medium", but I have a dedicated streaming PC with a lot of available CPU overhead.
11:08 PM
Test out "Fast", and if you notice a substantial hit to performance in-game, switch to "Faster".

@TenderSausage i don't have a fast internet connection, (25MBs) and also my laptop (yes, I use a laptop) is a rog strix g351 i think, the specs are an rtx 2060, i7 9750, and 16 gigs of ram

So I wanna build something that can handle streaming + competitive style gaming. It’s kinda hard to figure out what parts I should use cuz everyone has their own preference of brand so I understand it’ll be a little biased but I don’t really have an extensive knowledge of pc parts/brands. Probably wanna keep my budget to around $1k. You think I can get a quality gaming/streaming pc in that range?

I set up a business PayPal for twitch and used the donations/tips link in stream labs. Although I'm pretty sure PayPal has a fee if you take out more than £30? I'm not sure. I was looking into other things as well.

TenderSausage 8/13/2020 11:19 PM
I'd recommend shooting 60FPS at 1/60s shutter to see if you can minimize it.
11:20 PM
The math for 60Hz lighting should be really easy at 60fps, since the frames should line up.
11:20 PM
However, if your video is banding, it's probably because the LED isn't operating at 60Hz
11:21 PM
You could test this by shooting at 50FPS and 1/100s shutter to see if the banding goes away
11:22 PM
But that doesn't really solve the issue. It just tells you if your LED is at 50Hz or 60Hz.
11:22 PM
@Bacabee
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/13/2020 11:34 PM
Your best bet, IF the light is at 50Hz, is to shoot 60FPS at 1/100s shutter, if my math is correct.

Y'know, I think this question might fit in here. So, I'm looking to be streaming some stuff from my Wii U soon-ish, and I'm looking for a way to capture the video on the Gamepad. A friend of mine half-suggested some form of little 'claw' mount for a webcam. I have a spare C270 I can use, but what I'm wondering is if anyone has any knowledge of a grip or something that would work well to keep a camera positioned directly above the screen securely.
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/16/2020 3:25 AM
@JigglesExMachina(DonumExMachina) I'm sure you could do it that way, but the Wii U has an HDMI output, correct? A capture card would be best if it's within your budget. We can help you find one that's in your price range.

for games that rely on the gamepad being used for second screen shenanigans.

I see. I don't know of a way that doesn't involve a serious amount of modding.
3:29 AM
So a webcam would be a decent way
Avatar
JigglesExMachina(DonumExMachina) 8/16/2020 3:30 AM
Even with modding I'm not sure of any real way. So yeah, a webcam is what I"m planning. I'm more thinking about a small, short mount that might fit onto the gamepad itself and keep a webcam steady directly above it. I was just wondering if any one knew of little clamps/arms that aren't super long that might work for that

Hello. I'm trying to get everything set up for my twins for virtual learning for the rest of the year. They're very young, so it's only really a couple hours of circle time in their pre-K class. I'm using a spare Chromebook outputting to my TV. I have a Blue Yeti microphone (which is great) and an older Logitech C920. The camera doesn't do well with the distance and focusing (about 10 feet to the couch). So I was looking for recommendations for a webcam / camera that had a bit better of a focal range. It isn't mission critical, but it would be nice. I thought about using my a6000 but it won't charge and stream at the same time so I wasn't sure about battery issues. Ideas?

Can. Someone help me find a streaming platform? It's for a church. We're going out of OBS and either to YouTube or Facebook Live. YouTube has 1080p but Facebook live has a stream preview and the embed code doesn't change as much? But only can stream 720p? Maybe I'm wrong on all this. Essentially I want to stream at 1080p, be able to preview the stream without being publicly live, and have a single embed code for our web admin so they can put it on our site and every week when we go live our video shows up. Seems like Facebook does 2/3 and YouTube does 1. Am I wrong about this?

Avatar
TenderSausage 8/18/2020 3:08 PM
@Zeek I'm pretty sure The Forest is fairly CPU-intensive, and IIRC you're using a software encoder (x264). You could try switching to a hardware encoder to see if that improves the frame rates.
Avatar
I'm using Nvidia I believe. I don't understand why it was fine on the other program, but lags on this one with the same settings. I'll have a play about. Otherwise I'll just use twitch studios to stream that game 😅
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/18/2020 7:48 PM
@Zeek It's a game-to-game thing. Some games use more CPU, and so you can use the hardware encoder on the GPU to use those resources. On GPU-intensive games, it's better to use the Software/CPU encoder.
7:49 PM
It does take some fiddling around at times.

ok so what do you actual connect it to on the switch
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/20/2020 9:00 PM
You have a Switch, or Switch Lite? (edited)

⛧༺ 𝔄𝔰𝔥𝔱𝔬𝔫 ♱ 𝔏𝔢𝔴𝔦𝔰 ༻⛧ 8/20/2020 9:01 PM
no i mean like the charging port, or the usb thing on the dock, thats kinda what i mean
9:01 PM
I just have a normal switch
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/20/2020 9:01 PM
The Type C cable plugs into your Macbook (edited)
9:02 PM
You run an HDMI from the Switch dock to the capture card
9:02 PM
There is a pass-through port that will allow you to plug it in to a TV as well without latency

oh ok
9:03 PM
i think I understand
9:04 PM
is there any specific software or anything that I have to use? or can I just use twitch studio like I have been using to stream?
9:05 PM
coz ive been using twitch studio to stream a couple of my pc games
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/20/2020 9:05 PM
Twitch studio should be fine
9:06 PM
You will need to add a layer in your stream layout for the capture card
9:06 PM
but that should be it
9:07 PM
9:08 PM
@⛧༺ 𝔄𝔰𝔥𝔱𝔬𝔫 ♱ 𝔏𝔢𝔴𝔦𝔰 ༻⛧ It will be on this screen. I'm not sure what the option looks like, since I don't own that capture device, but I see no reason why it shouldn't work.

Oh wait I just realized, that I will need a microphone or something to record my audio... Ideally i'd want it to be fairly mobile(like a headset or something) and for it to sound good of course
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/21/2020 3:48 AM
@⛧༺ 𝔄𝔰𝔥𝔱𝔬𝔫 ♱ 𝔏𝔢𝔴𝔦𝔰 ༻⛧ Any wireless headset that connects to your laptop via Bluetooth or USB should work (edited)

Anyone have a good way to download and edit Twitch clips? Also people making videos, what editing software do you use? I don't mind spending some cash - looking for user friendly
Avatar
Falloverout 8/21/2020 7:32 AM
What do you want to edit on
Avatar
Looking to do some editing on PC, if that's what you're asking. I wanna edit my twitch clips together and also started making some tutorials recently, would like to be able to edit those better

Idk for pc I mean Adobe is allways good but could be worth money idk i just know they have one
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/21/2020 1:09 PM
@CorceTV I've used Vegas in the past, and it's relatively cheap and easy. I now use Adobe software pretty exclusively.
Avatar
@TenderSausage hows the Adobe in comparison - price / functionality, etc?
4:48 PM
& Which adobe program is that? Premier?
Avatar
hey does anyone have any experience with setting up a mesh wifi system?
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/21/2020 6:36 PM
@CorceTV Vegas Pro 365 is $19.99/mo vs. Adobe Premier at $20.99. I use more than just Premier, so I pay $52.99/mo for the whole Adobe creative suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Audition, etc.)
6:42 PM
@BenjiiBee Yeah, I have set one or two up. Which mesh devices are you using?
Avatar
@TenderSausage i am not using anything atm. i need something to cover like 4k sqft

TenderSausage 8/21/2020 7:11 PM
@BenjiiBee What kind of budget are you looking at? (edited)

Hey does anyone know how to get the chat back on streamlabsobs once it disappears 😅 I just know the function to move it to the left side but when it’s gone that doesn’t change anything

7:41 PM
Or are you talking about while the stream is live?
Avatar
Deleted User 8/21/2020 7:41 PM
But this shows it on your actual stream, no? I mean in the software
7:41 PM
Yeah when the stream is live

@BenjiiBee The Linksys MX10 Mesh is great, but it's a little out of budget at $700 for two devices.
Avatar
@TenderSausage as long as it works that’s fine lol if i need 3 it might be okay since it reduces headache
Avatar
TenderSausage 8/21/2020 8:05 PM
The MX10 series is tri-band and Wi-fi 6
8:06 PM
You should only need the two devices, but you can very easily expand later
8:11 PM
@BenjiiBee It looks like they're on sale on their website for $599: https://www.linksys.com/us/p/P-MX10600/ (edited)
The Linksys Velop MX10 AX Whole Home WiFi 6 System is WiFi amplified, delivering more speed, coverage, and capacity than any WiFi technology has before.
Avatar
okay perfect. are they easy enough to set up? @TenderSausage

TenderSausage 8/21/2020 8:12 PM

Help! I’m trying to stream, but every time the site says that my connection is unstable, even though I’ve got wired internet that’s running 80-100 mbps consistently! Is there some other factor that I’m missing? I’ve tried on both Twitch and YouTube with the same results, and the video is set to the lowest possible resolution both on OBS and the platform. What am I not getting?
Avatar
@jepperpack did you go to settings on OBS and for output, measure KBPS to MBPS so 6 megabytes upload is 6000 KBPS on the dashboard

@jepperpack Please post a screenshot of your stream settings.

Warzone is extremely reliant on the CPU.
3:51 AM
You can try switching to a hardware encoder when streaming Warzone
