For the RAM, see what frequency that your future motherboard supports. Some people would recommend you "get a 3600Mhz", that's fast AF", but it may require a bit of overclocking knowledge to prevent damage to your parts. Faster ram means more speed, but also more heat and power consumption.

I start with the CPU, and find a motherboard that is a compatible with the widest feature-set for what I want, like M.2 slots, USB 3.2 controller, 2.5GB Ethernet, etc.
@mikix0493 Hey, btw, I'm sorry for flying off the handle. The "Bro" got me sideways for some reason, not completely you, and I was kinda rude, so I'm sorry.

I just want to make sure you walk away with the right information

With RAM, it's not as simple as "if it fits, it'll work"

Hey guys - I saw the stream deck made be elegato and was wondering: Is there just a simple software version of this that I could hook up to my keyboard? I'd like a program that would play specific audio cues / graphics / scenes at the press of a mouse click or something instead of purchasing a physical product.
@Slacker OBS (and its variants) should have the ability to assign keyboard shortcuts to scenes.

You could even get a cheap numpad keyboard, use a macro software and assign the shortcuts to F13~F24, and to each of these keys, so you don't lose functionality on anything you'd have already.

I answered your question on the subreddit, but here it goes again, for people who may not have seen it. Gigabit LAN ports. Avoid streaming over wifi, no matter how fast it is, it's always prone to external interference, which you can't control. You will get ping spikes on both your game (if online) an on your stream.
Hey folks, what's the right channel for tech question? [edit: I posted a question in #🔧│tech-support-archive , it's Sony e-mount lens question](edited)
People should be wary of random messages they get from users in big servers. They'll try to get you to click into dangerous links, send private information or try to sell you some random bullshit(edited)
Depends on if you wanna be publicly part of your branding, and where you'll draw the line between your private life and your public life as a content creator.
2:20 PM
You shouldn't use, for example, an instagram profile where you post family photos and private moments with your close friends as an official profile for your streaming channel. That would create both a huge conflict of interests and a privacy and security risk for you and any other person related to you.
2:21 PM
But if you are a very "social media person" already, with a "best pictures only" instagram account, it would be possible, depending on your goals.(edited)
2:24 PM
My suggestion would be creating a separate profile that you'll actively use on whatever social platform you decide on. Not to just spam your stream's link everytime you go live, but to interact with people, so they get interested in what you do - creating the right opportunities to grow your viewerbase.
And you can mix and match at your choosing. I like having my Instagram just be life off the stream for the most part, but that is also because I don't want to just post a million clips of the stream on instagram and am trying to grab audience from different walks of life. Going full bore into one channel tho of everything is uniform could help growth faster for sure tho
This community is focused individual content creators what create entertainment for their viewers, not streaming websites. Not sure even on where to point you, since I don't even watch pay-per-view streams and related content
I'm after the opinions of streamers direct. I'm in the process of building a new platform and want a bit of research on what people want in their platform of choice
I can give you the ones I see being an issue for the vast majority of the streamers that I've interacted (both in here an the ones I've worked with): Good video quality and stability Creators want a fair cut on what they get per subscriber, viewers want affordable prices on subscriptions. Integration with OBS (pop-up sections, like recent events, editable stream info, etc). Clarity on how any and all income sources are split between creators and platform. Visibility opportunities for small streamers, so they have a realistic chance of being featured in the front page, or at the top of the game's page. A good system to dealing and responding to copyright issues, without having the creator as the absolute losing side of every DMCA request.
12:03 PM
These are the ones that come to mind.
12:05 PM
And please, for the love of your platform, don't just change things up without discussing these with the creators on your platform. You'll have all the data on your hands, you'll know who's using all the features the most, so don't consider only big creators in your decisions.
^ all of that and give us the option to turn off ads please XD

Thank! So the point of what im building is putting peoples communities first. (Its part of the name) What i've built so far is mostly there. The platform (without too much load) is fast and stable The monetization so far is £1 a sub/month and has something similar to bits. I haven't quite sorted what the spit will be, that depends I guess on the platform costs and opinions of the content creators. Visibility was one of the main things right at the beginning and there is a giant random button which will take you to someone's community (channel) DMCA isnt something I've looked at yet. But I want to TOS to be fair and looser than Twitch for EG (Twitch's TOS is acutally why I started this project)
12:10 PM
Oh and no ads at all

Don't get me wrong, ads could be helpful and tolerable, if they don't take up the entire space that should be for the content you are trying to watch, for 30 seconds, every time you refresh the page...
But instead of ads you could get sponsorships in the future, hosting events for small games or gaming/streaming related companies, making so that viewers and creators can feel benefited from these sponsorships, not just a "watch 2 hours, get a lootbox", how Twitch does their drops.
I'm not saying to not change your passwords, cause you should do it regularly anyway. But there's no reason to be very alarmed by the leak. From what I saw (skimmed, so take w/ a grain of salt), at this time the user data aspect of it outside of payouts is fairly minimal.(edited)
12:54 PM
can certainly change with more info that comes out, but right now seems like the most valuable info coming out of it is their propriety tech + secret projects.
What worries me is that, since their source-code was also leaked (don't know if fully or partially, but it was 120GB leak...), some people will always try to find a way to breach their security, which could put us in risk in the near future.
Absolutely, that's why I made sure to include the disclaimer of at this time - still a great catalyst to get people to change their passwords.

The other item to keep in mind as well... If they pulled their source code, who knows if they got the salts (i would assume they did) for passwords, as well as the MFA tokens to allow for user breaches. Would strongly suggest while changing passwords to remove your existing 2FA method and add it back. If you use your phone number, would be good to switch to an app or hardware token for your MFA so that it's a unique code. SMS spoofing for 2FA is really simple, so if they have your email, password, and phone number you're in an even less advantageous position.

I use the cheapest Logitech one from Best Buy. Was 30 bucks, worked good on stream almost two years now. Quality only drops when trying a YouTube video full screen or full screen just chatting. Just remember that good lighting!
Yea since Twitch TOS isn't crazy if a game shows some nude or has moments briefly (Heavy Rain, The last of Us 2, Wolf Among US) but if it is the focus of the stream they will shut it down. Even if it is art.
Idk what channel this would be under, but if you need a server for a game or any websites hosted, I have a friend that could do it for pretty cheap if anyone is interested. I told him I would try to help him out on this discord because I know someone might be interested
I've built a new streaming platform for building communities. And as long as its artistic and the stream is labelled appropriately, you could stream it on https://threeC.tv
Lots of people do spooky games. Halloween costumes. Scary stories (careful of DMCA). Monster mash party streams with drinks and special events on Subs. Watch parties in discords of horror movies. To name a few :p
The real question is why didn't we call the VCR the VC player? Like, we have CD players, DVD players, Blu-Ray players... Did we really record more than we played on video cassette? I doubt it.
