@Misio I agree on the scale of high to low you used, you can see the league streamer even put all his contacts in the bottom, said what it was about and really introduced himself. The thing is I think that the majority of the discord/sub is people trying to get more viewers or follows? Which can work sometimes sure. Like when I get done streaming and have a little extra time I will blip around and see who else is on then. Plus the #old🔴streams channel will auto post for you because of the handy bot so that is really enough for most of us in the discord to see. I joined so I could chat with other streamers and see what works and what doesn't and build some friendships in the field. For people slamming down please follow and the small going live posts it is like trying to sell a car to a car salesman, we already know what we are getting.

Of course I bounce between a ton of discords and don't really have any sway in this one, it is more of an open comment to all. That if you are trying to market your stream to streamers you will get different results than going the alternative channels and trying to get genuine new people interested. Again I pop around in a few streams each day, but I will stream my own majority of the time and that is why it is hard to build a community off of people you find here. Instead find some friends, learn some tricks and interact here with people maybe? If you put a high effort post in the sub or discord I bet others will tell you it was good and then take that and post it in your socials or use it as a bio? Butternutz should defiently use his league one as a bio somewhere. meh didn't mean for this to be a rant :/

Well yea I get that. Like I mentioned you get a free shout out automatically in the promotions tab. People don't need to shout to the streamers. If only there was a sub named something like sub/peoplewhoonlywatchstreams that would be ideal for the small posts.

So I had an idea. Sometimes its really fun to find new streamers that are entertaining but don't have a lot of viewers and hang with them for a night or two. But finding these people (especially on Twitch) can be difficult. So I had an idea... Would anyone be interested in an email newsletter that would send out 3-5 really high quality small streamers (< 10 viewers) per week? We would go through small streams and find people that are really entertaining but just don't have a lot of followers / viewers. I know that I would have appreciated it when I was a smaller streamer. As a small streamer, you'd be able to submit your channel in and we would decide if you're a good fit. As a viewer looking for small streamers it could be a great way to find HQ small streams without the hassle of filtering streams with no mic or interaction. Thoughts?

Yea a webpage might be better. A discord could be interesting but I wouldn't want people to advertise their own streams and start spamming.

@Tryston 🐍 It is a good idea, but I feel it will take a lot of backend work and essentially be no profit to you other than the gratification. It would also take a lot of time just filtering submissions. So then you have to look at how to make it worth your while? A ten min podcast could generate revenue or a blog with the top fives from ad space. Or maybe you genuinely want to just help out? Lol I get that as well, my girlfriend has to remind me often I can’t help everyone tho

@DJboutit it just depends on if you like the features more on twitch or mixer. Mixer (in my opinion) has better features and a better community but not as many viewers and streamers, were as twitch is a little more tedious to set up your page vs mixer and has more people to watch and more viewers. It's honestly up to you at this point

What are done peoples goals with streaming this year? For instance, I started January and want to hit 1000 followers by the time I go to TwitchCon this Fall? Tell me what drives you?

The only thing that drives me is watching people play in the world I'm creating. Seeing people hit the channel and play Stream Saga with each other and have a good time at it is worth the effort and keeps me going.

@untitledcookingkitchen I use the same thing. It has worked so far from the start to affiliate and beyond. and @FlargBlarg Connor I say just try a cheaper one to start and just get going. Your viewers will communicate if something is off or they are unhappy with it.

@Shanecus yeah, I think it might just be something weird with Twitch. I can't view my own stream live, in the creator dashboard or otherwise. It gives me error 1000. I can watch the VOD and other channels, though. I tried restarting my pc but I'm gonna check once more and go to sleep since now I'm frustrated and don't want to stream anymore lol

For sure. None of the very limited solutions for the error code that are online are working. It's still not working for me, so I think I'll just wait until tomorrow. I'm probably going to be stuck at home in a snowstorm so I'll have plenty of time. I jiust don't quite understand why it's only while it's live. Like I said, the VOD shows up and works immediately afterwards. But, oh well. Tomorrow's another day.

Oh, didnt read the beggining, in obs you need to select all the sources in the same scene, if you connect the elgato video capture card, it should appear on video capture device

Then, for the audio I recommend installing soundflower, which is free, and then move the macbook audio output to soundflower 2 channel, and in obs putting it as an audio input

Then you click right in the audio, to advanced settings and then you put the soundflower in monitor and output, so you can hear it and it would stream at the same time

@⇜♕Stealth 𝓞𝓣𝓡⇝ you will get frustrated. It may be the lack of viewers, a plateau, a mean comment but it will happen. Stream for yourself as much as anyone else. Hell im frustrated right now because Doom Eternal keeps popping up that “this title can not be broadcast?”

Yeah well I'm not doing it for a job or anything like that, not looking to make money, just generally want to do it so I have a little community that likes to watch me :p so thanks for the advice :DDD

@Smol Peepee there is a lot that goes into it. Getting friends in to start out and just chatting with them. Remembering something about each chatter you get. I will announce to lurkers I see them and invite them to speak up. It has lead to some good return viewers. And when people say consistency, I feel they mean it in a lot of things. Like I would search your discord name if I wanted to see you on twitch. Although I know if I click your name I can see your actual profile.

Also during now more than any other time I feel being real and talking "with" instead of "at" viewers is incredibly important. People are tense right now, do your first just chatting and then lead into a game, relax and enjoy the game and stream and don't focus on the numbers constantly, it will make you go mad

I mean to be honest as well there is no sure fire way to get retention on viewers. When I was in radio my boss said I could never skip a song, because even if I hate it someone out there likes it. It helps me put in perspective some viewers will stick and some will not.

Hi Guys, I am all new to steaming. I just build new rig after 12 years :). I am curious about some tips/tricks for total beginner, I know that youtube is full of those stuff and I also read previous conversations here. I am thinking about stream of AC odyssey, TF2, Paladins, some racing. In non of that I am like skilla master at all, just like enjoying those. I have feeling that in current time its more like that battle royale stuff which I do not enjoy at all. So does it have some chance to catch up in current world?

Try to find games with little representation but still popular honestly. Its not easy but start off as creating a niche for urself

Like you gain a little extra from just spending some time in other peoples streams and talking for a bit. like I stop in @Cuddlefishez sometimes and lurk for his build around of his channel. @丂乇刀ﾌひ丂乇刀ｱﾑﾉﾉﾉ has a theme that is great in his even to his discord. I enjoy @Kiros (He/Him) Because he is genuine and it led to some hosting. Hell I like @WastedBrownies too but he usually pops on later then I am up xD. That is all from the last week and I think just chatting with them in stream led them all to follow? After I followed and chatted. However now I was gifted a sub to Jazz and even talked with Kiros more in other discords. I also jump into random on lives here after I finish streaming and if idk feels more genuine. @Smol Peepee if you really need a follow amigo I can get you, I just feel it doesn't help much past the initial ping. my channel is mostly just based on what i do on a normal basis. What i like to stream are games that get me incredibly immersed such as Half-life: Alyx, Doom Eternal, STALKER: ANOMALY, Tarkov (discontinued playing) and Fallout New Vegas. These games allow so much freedom in gameplay that I encourage my viewers to suggest me new things to do/things they want to see in these games. I am trying to experiment with interactivity with a Fallout New Vegas series I started called "The Deserter" where viewers can help me choose/suggest personality traits, dispositions, and game outcomes (within logical boundaries of the character)

If anyone could give me a hand setting up twitch in 2 hours that would be sweet! I got an account and have streamed just wanna learn to use obs

@Doobski between OBS and OBSstreamlabs I would go with labs. There are also tons of videos for doing everything in there. I do use OBS when I record for YouTube, but for my Streaming labs has been amazing.

@Doobski I do what I can xD. I can go over setting up the basic OBS streamlabs stuff. Just make sure you have it downloaded. Also if you have a webcam and mic make sure that is up to date and your drivers are too.

I usually say the same thing when I stream or advertise to stream, but 98% of you are streamers as well. Trying to get streamers into your stream is almost like selling a used car to another used car salesman. SO instead this is just me saying, reach out if you need it. This virus is affecting everyone everywhere and get it out if you need to.

Any good alternative to Twitch for none gamers any sites that allow adult content?? Youtube is really limited to what you can stream Vaugh Live max bitrate is 3500 streams really look more like 2500 to 2750 bitrate. I am looking for a site I can stream at 6000 bitrate that allows NSFW content.

Twitch is decent for most things as long as the stream is not racist nudity or porn but there is lot streams for a small streamer to get noticed if your not a gamer (edited)

@pyroish The thing about a new game like Resident Evil is you want to play it and stream it do so. Twitch isn't a platform for being found on anyways. It is for the streaming portion itself. Almost all of my followers in the last two months since starting has came from direct interactions. Maybe 10% is from random drop ins. So I say stream RE3 if you like it and want to!

I've learned not to fixate on viewer count and it does feel good to get into the mindset to do more for the stream, outside of streaming

I usually just have it all on one monitor, I put games at 1600x900 windowed, while having chat and activity feed on the side

That works too! I would say on that second monitor if you can pull up the creator dashboard on twitch that would help. You can edit stuff live in there and makes raiding easy too.

I am bad at most tech stuff. I refer to my friends for like 99% of that. @pyroish I got an Elgato HD60s + and it works great if you need to get one. Also I would suggest making a clip or two after streaming. They share well and let people know what the channel is about. I say the one you had on the channel. Keep it up!

@pyroish yea clip away. I got a pie to the face during the stream yesterday that someone did clip and make into a video but it only got there because of community. It happens, just takes some time.

Say goodbye and close up shop. Or if you have a viewer or two give a raid out to someone. It does extend your active time while you chat with people for a few, but streaming is a social thing and that is part of it. Just say, "Looks like this is a good stopping point here everyone." Say goodbye to chatters and finish up.

You might get away with it for a while, but you won't be able to create clips or videos with copyright audio, and if someone reports you they'll put a stop to it. I would guess it would be okay with a smaller channel while it's unnoticed, but I wouldn't bank on being able to build something like that into a bigger stream.

The problem you've got is what you're trying to do is most likely illegal, so anything with a decent quality is going to put a stop to it relatively quickly. I don't think there is much to be done about that

Yea there are that pop in from time to time. The downside is the few I am followed to have different discord names than streaming names lol. hey guys, I have got a elagto 4k60 pro recently and it seems to have some audio delays that increase the longer I stream, does anyone know a fix for that?

@Ratsch can you put that kind of query in #🔧│tech-support-archive but that being said that sounds like a difficult thing to diagnose. Could it be a resource issue? It sounds like some sort of memory leak as a random stab in the dark.

Hey everyone I need some help.... Due to COVID-19 a friend of mine and his future wife have to marry in private at the council hall. I would like to help them, by creating a simple private stream so that the family (especially the grand parents) can participate. I am looking for an easy solution where the viewers just have to click on a link and enter a password to join. Ideally it should work with Android/IOS I thought of twitch first, but I dont know if they offer private streams, as they cant get money out of it (because less viewers, etc.) Than I thought of Discord, but for that every viewer needs an account, as far as I know, and that would be kinda complicated for the grand parents. Skype - Is more or less the same as discord, as it needs an account. I apreciate any other proposal! Thank you guys and gals in advance for answering, sharing, consulting, etc.!!!!!

So this is month three for me streaming. I was wondering as I learn and grow some stuff if people would be interested in a long post or YouTube video so far. I started with twitch and two weeks ago began YouTube. I had some marketing background before starting this and from January 21 to now I have 156 follows and 41 subs. None of which are F4F. My YouTube I began is vlogs and next week will have some Magic Advice also (Played for over 20 years now). However, I know how annoying it can be to be spammed. So this is a marketing and growth side post, my tech skills have been low, but have asked for help and learned along the way. Let me know what some of you think. Or stop by the stream and chat. @faethflex and @maaliktomtom thank you for the input. I’ll make a YouTube video early this week and put it up with an actual check list. Not things like only stream niche games but actual check lists. I’m not perfect by any means. But already I’ve put in about 500 hours time since started including the reading and research. I track hours to know if at the end of the year this is worth it or if I’m just going to be losing money.

Hey! So, I bought elgato hd60 s+ & asus gaming monitor to stream my xbox one gameplay - all to find out my macbook doesn't have a strong enough processor to run both game capture and host live streams. Not sure what options are best for situation-PC? Gaming Laptop? Help me out pls.

@mosestomtom An elgato hd60 would be a relatively affordable way to capture your laptop visual as long as your laptop has a HDMI output. @mrussocny What type of games were you trying to run? You may try starting out with lower intensity Indie games to start, see if that lowers the load on your laptop. If not, upgrading to a decent build PC would be your way to go. It'll last you longer, and can be upgraded and grow as needed

@maaliktomtom if you aren’t slaving a pc to the other the best way to do what you want is a capture card. I would also just suggest buying a cheap Logitech for a cam instead of trying to do a big work around. If it is a new gaming ox I’m sure it will run great. Just run obs or slobs on admin

Yea I mean there are some good tutorials on running dual PCs but for some reasons a pc plus laptop just doesn’t mess well. I had that problem for awhile too. I just run my pc at the same time as my chat screen and have it on the creator dashboard.

@lordtubington9 I believe xbox has a remote play feature where you can play games through your PC and you can capture that window when streaming
