I understand that xD When I left my "career" in 2020I did not anticipate stuff being so crazy for going back to school This is also a big year for me so I will hype you up to get through it as well
I can't even imagine going back to school. Throughout High School and college, I was a terrible student. Even in classes I really liked, I was reluctant to put in any work outside the class.
Yep. And you won't find a community here, but rather, you can learn how to build one.
3:03 AM
Everyone else here being a streamer, there would be no point in anyone just following each other. Not enough hours in the year to watch so many content creators lol(edited)
so, im planning on going live tomorrow, what are some good strategies or a good mindset to get good like... highlights, i guess? obviously like, be yourself, whatever, but for someone looking to translate my streams into YouTube and short form content, whats an effective way of making sure clips come out clean and exciting and natural? i feel like im constantly scared of just glossing over good moments or not letting myself go and giving a good reaction.

@synthie_cat what kinda stuff does he stream/what was the video?
I think it's the same reason why many people watch science channels on YouTube. We don't all know the math, physics, chemistry, but we got the curiosity
He also got some flak for not posting a written form - which I personally find irritating but well. It's about optimizing things and he's gating people to his discord (which also gained 60+ members in the same time) and some people didn't like that.
2:14 PM
But yeah, interesting case study. He's going to release the second video Saturday - let's see if he can keep that breakneck speed.
Well, if his content has enough work put into it, generating value for people, joining a Discord server isn't taking a bite out of anyone.
2:18 PM
He could have put it behind a paywall on Patreon, for example. As many people do with small, or even things that are free anywhere else, with no more efforts than a few extra clicks.
A better use of your time would be having a pre-stream routine. Food, water (before and during your stream), bathroom, checking if video and audio are working properly (through Studio Mode on OBS), checking if the game is ready, if your internet connection is stable...
4:55 PM
You can do the later stage within the 5 minutes of your starting soon scene. That's the best time to test everything, since people expect you to get started at any second.
4:56 PM
I've seen some streams that were supposed to be "15 minutes", and the streamer left it like that for 45...
I normally take like 5 minutes, too. Basically checking my levels, checking if the game is showing up correctly, making sure that all SocMe posts went live as planned.
5:08 PM
I think it's way more important what you do right after that tho. Like - changing directly into full camera, energetic greetings, just a bit of chit-chat with the early birds.
hey uhhhh... is anyone here in the stream scheme discord..? i joined earlier right before i went live just so i could meet some more people in the community and someone asked what i was up to and i said i was going live in a sec and got banned :/ i guess they interpreted it as me trying to self promote or whatever but like
7:00 PM
idk, i didnt think before i spoke i guess
7:01 PM
i guess what im asking for is for someone to ask if theyll unban me lmao
Maybe try checking if they have a ban appeal form you can fill in?

I have maximum 3 minutes and thats if I'm not paying attention. I go live, I hit that 1:30 ad roll to disable pre-rolls and as soon as that's done I start, as small streamers the sooner we're showing ourselves off the better ❤️
Yea I would just see about sending them a message if you could
10:46 PM
I do a 5 min go live go an ad to run, go live notifications. And everything. Plus I have the screen up still and will respond to chat as I get everything set up: Sometimes I start before the time but usually I start right at the end and hit the scene change and start a new song at the same time. First 5-15 mins of each stream is just catching up with everyone anyways.
Hey thanks! 15 minutes is waaaaaay too long to leave up a Starting soon. I have a 5 minute countdown on screen using some green screen tricks that starts counting down as soon as I switch to the scene. So I hit that, hit Start Stream, and then I have two cameras switching views of me with a B&W filter as I’m doing the last few things before the actual start, and I have music playing. Usually that’s doing the social media And Discord posts, loading up Stream, ect. Sometimes I’m running late and go live and then get up to pee / get a drink during that screen but I’m back before that 5 minutes is up.(edited)
I mean lately when I raid I raid within the community and people I’ve met over the last two years. I like random drops in the game I’m playing still but my “theme” is a bit strange and sometimes I’m the only one on that game. I think have a stream ending panel is important for when you do raid, so you aren’t just awkwardly sitting there and also for the nights when you can’t raid from tech issues or fatigue
I didnt understand the need for a stream ending panel until I saw the way friend's goodbyes would cut off thanks to the delay on stream vs the "instant" raid button. It feels like one of those things you have to learn from others XD I tend to have my stream manager open and check it to see when my final screen has appeared before raiding now :3
My rule on raids is also I have to spend 30 minutes in the stream I raid. Some nights especially lately with the covid and lung swelling and just all around bleh xD when I get ready to stop I just need to stop. Raids are great! But don’t feel forced to do them everytime. A raid when someone raids and no one says anything is almost more demoralizing I feel? And just having a good moment with your community and saying goodnight and everything can go well too.
One of my mods is mods for someone that does that and at the end of stream when I look for people to raid they are like "well X is on" and I'm like....yeah but they play that fucking video and I hate it
This is one of the best approaches that people should go for when displaying clips. They should be displayed during intervals in your content, not over an event where you are being offered free advertisement for new viewers, killing that potential engagement.
Yea BRB screens on mine do the same. I have to get water fairly often like every two hours or so and the clips pop up. Tho recently it’s been acting up :/ I also always pause on a raid and thank the person unless crazy ass moment but anyone whose raided me knows I’m a bit personal on all of that xD
Back to that other stuff, if you've never heard of it, VMAF is a visual comparison tool that measures how a human would perceive the difference in quality between the source and the alternate.
6:40 PM
6:41 PM
This is a comparison of 1080p60 footage. You can see massive dives where the user would definitely see a visual difference, and you can think of the score in the traditional 100% scale; 90.41 is pretty good, but there's almost 10% room for improvement.
6:42 PM
Dropping the resolution to 720p60 nets a more consistent stream, with far fewer portions where the content is literally unwatchable.
6:44 PM
These graphs might look similar, but look at the scale; The 720p60 footage doesn't fall below a score of ~78, where the 1080p60 footage literally sinks to 0 at times.
6:44 PM
And there are portions that are 100%, which is obviously ideal.
6:46 PM
Full motion 1080p60 content, compressed by H.264, needs something like 35Mbps to accurately represent the changes that happen at that framerate. It's a lot for your computer to process in real time.
TenderSausage
I feel bad for the people who never get to experience WinAmp
That would make a difference. Having Prime unlocks a lot of streaming content, and Amazon Music is acceptable, though not great.
7:44 PM
It's a separate subscription, like Spotify or the like.
7:46 PM
It does have a connector to Twitch which is pretty cool. You can stream licensed music on Track 6 and anyone who has a Prime account can turn on the Music channel on your stream and listen along, but it doesn't show up on your Twitch recording
I'm just a very political person - which I'm not trying to hide but neither believe this here is the right place to go fully mask off - so I tried to not use Amazon as much as possible. Twitch, with all it's flaws, still provides me with a good bit of reach so I have to bite the bullet here. Otherwise I wholely disagree with the way Amazon treats workers, the environment and even business partners. Yet I don't feel like there's an ethically better choice to make - Trovo as well as YT have their own fair share of appaling business issues, i haven't had a Facebook account in 5 years.(edited)
I'm currently rocking wh-1000xm4 over ears when outside - Noise canceling is heaven-sent for my ADHD - and DT770 250Ω at home.
8:40 PM
Especially the latter make it really worth not streaming as they really open up with good lossless audio, however my shitty musical taste kinda counteracts
8:41 PM
Like local punk bands with worse recording equipment then what I've got at home
But first I desoldered everything, polished it with diamond paste, lubed it up, swapped the springs - now I'm getting a Dremel and try to shorten the housings
2:38 PM
2:38 PM
Hope I'm not spamming to much about this project here.
I made a panel for my headphones and controllers, still got some space for 2 small baskets that I wanna put my smaller gadgets on
2:42 PM
2:43 PM
Added 2 fixation points behind it, to hold it on hooks on the wall
2:45 PM
I'm just missing some silicon supports for the lower part, to not scratch the wall, or make much noise by hitting the wall when I get/put back one of the things in there
2:46 PM
Also thinking of adding a few small hooks for keys, and that USB drive, where I keep my windows iso and essential software
Wood pallets are a great material for repurposing the wood! Those bad bois can easily hold up 800Kg, according to one dude that worked on the construction material store where I got it years ago
3:11 PM
The wood is not ready to use, but you just need to sand down the splinters and edges, treat the wood against termite with a spray (if you think it's necessary), and cut/paint it to your needs
The 6800 XT shouldn't pull more than 350W. Do you have more than 400W in the rest of your PC?(edited)
3:41 PM
I guess, ideally, you'd want to be running more like... 550W? So, you might be getting close to the max.
3:43 PM
My math is different than most people's when calculating power supplies. I take the Max GPU and CPU draw and add 90W for the Mobo and RAM, regardless of the model. So, assuming a big CPU at 135W, we're at 350W + 135W + 90W = 575W(edited)
3:43 PM
That's full-bore on all three components
3:44 PM
75% of 750 is 562.5W. I'd say you're appropriately matched.
Below is a comprehensive list of Elgato Stream Deck software releases. Before updating Elgato Stream Deck, you may want to visit the Preferences and Export or Backup your Profile.Usually no probl...
4:37 PM
TL;DR = 10 OBS Studio plugins, Multi Action Delay as low as 2ms, Window resizing (FINALLY!), Device Rotation (90, 180).
I like elgatos approach but I still haven't found a reasons for me to not just use an old phone and macro deck over Stream Deck. Do you use it outside of streams as well?
I'm starting to. It has uses in Adobe products like Illustrator and Premier, but I like it for home automation stuff. Turn up lights, turn on/off subwoofer, etc.
4:43 PM
That way I don't have to yell at my Echo Dot when the whole house is asleep
4:45 PM
The multi actions are convenient for setting up your desktop in prep for streaming, too. It will open all my streaming apps and move them to the proper places on my desktop with one button press. I'm sure this isn't unique to the Stream Deck, I'm just one of those people who saw it and had to have it, and never adopted a phone-based solution.
There's a content creator on TikTok that checks the network traffic of IoT stuff and makes sure they're not pinging global servers all the time. I have started to do the same, and luckily my choices have been pretty safe so far.
4:50 PM
But there are some unknowingly nefarious products out there to steer clear of, for sure(edited)
I think my next plan is to run them on their own subnet in the future to segment them away from my computers.
4:58 PM
Most of my automations are IFTTT anyway, so as long as they have internet access, I don't need them to be on my "home" network. I'll broadcast an IoT-specific SSID for them.
I don't have it anymore tho, I'll try again with OBS and see if there's again a bad latency. I deleted every streaming software I've had. Just re-downloaded OBS Studio..
Mostly slimming down the box. Wanna play on my knees while sitting for a relaxed experience. I'll screw everything in place in the end to keep it sturdy - but removing 4 screws is still easy replacing
A week in, and the 1-2 viewership average is killing me. My strongest streams are geoguesser where I get solid chat interaction, but not my strongest game. I know it’s a long game but I just had to vent it to see if anyone else feels the same or has any tips. Hope everyone is having a good day!

No matter what: Do what you enjoy the most. Stream for yourself not for acknowledgment of others. There's no happiness in simply "number go up". You have to bring the energy, focussing on low numbers will take it from you. Pick the game you enjoy the most, have a look at who else is playing it, become part of their community without trying to get something out for yourself. Talk to people - if they're interested in you they'll come.(edited)

Streaming is a raw long format. There's technical mastership to reach - but, let's be frank: You won't be entertaining 100% of the time all the time without learning and sticking to it. Excepting success in the first week is setting you up for frustration :) So: Hang in there! If that doesn't work for you: Set yourself goalsyou can reach. E.g. amount wins per stream, how many puns you can make in an hour or whatever. :)(edited)

well they wont (generally) just be reviews of shit everyone else plays, like my twitch bio says i mainly want to focus on shooters, racing games, and flight games
3:43 PM
like those are generally the things I have big thoughts about
I find that a bit to broad personally (which is absolutely just personal - I just want to give additional perspective). To elaborate on my "more narrow" approach: So as mentioned before I'm a very political person. I have some extensive knowledge about certain aspects (e.g. Post Leftist Anarchist Theory, Workers organization and Queerphobia) so my audience knows that I will eventually diverge into that territory. I do combine all of those with other personal interests - e.g. analyzing the structure of Video Game storytelling, -microtransactions and recent happenings. Your stream can certainly be about games but it also needs a whole lot of yourself as a personality in it. If I'd want a game review - which would mostly be the case to make a purchase decision - I'd browse to my video game magazine of choice (or metacritic) and punch in the name, and look at the score. I'm not saying that doing reviews is wrong - but I'd suggest that you make them directly with re-purposing in mind (e.g. cutting them up for YouTube in a 5-10 minute form). You would also have to consider that you have to be able to identify hype games ahead of time and try to reach out to PR departments to be able to stream directly on launch day without constantly breaking the bank. The gaming news cycle is really short lived and you're directly competing with professional game journalists. Is that really something you want? Also where do you add your own personality in this?(edited)
What’s gucci everyone? Hope everyone is having a friggen blessed day. Pun intended. Lol. I’m going to be doing a new segment on the stream today before I dive into games “ Uber story Sunday” just going to be sharing the funny, weird and even possibly the cringy stories I encountered while being an Uber driver. So make sure you keep an eye out for that live notification!

consider it a separate piece of content just using the stream footage as b-roll and some comments i make live
4:55 PM
when im live id rather just chill out and play the game, talk about personal stories i have with it, whatever
4:57 PM
I guess in most categories where stuff is oversaturated you have to set yourself apart by having a shtick but i feel like most games i play rarely have enough people live to really make that a significant issue
Just play the games you want for a while, then use the data on SullyGnome to evaluate your streams. But don't use it as the single source of information to determine any changes on your channel.
like i already have a running list of games i want to play, and im gonna pull from that, but its just a matter of picking the right ones from that list
and the data is helpful in picking which ones id end up in a good place in the highest/lowest list, which i guess isnt super relevant anymore because it sorts by recommended by default now
10:49 PM
still not sure how it "recommends" now lmao(edited)
10:49 PM
but i want to be aware of which games i want to play have like 0-5 viewers vs 50-100
Also, would they even work for you? Every button that I've create references multiple Move Transition filters on my OBS, it would probably be more work than if recreating from scratch lol
Took me some good 6~7 hours today, mostly because I wanted my own shapes in my webcam (instead of rounded corners, which is immensely easier to do), but it was definitely worth it.
This one is huge: Soon, you’ll be able to connect to Discord Voice channels directly from your Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles and talk directly with your friends on PC, web, and mobile.
I've noticed when going to raid lately that a lot of people are streaming in the wrong catagories Like tonight I started Pokemon Legends and about half the streams in that category were not of that game xD Just a strange way to do it I guess IDK

It’s mostly because pokemon has so many retro games that people do nuzlockes and challenges on and it’s easier to just put your category as the newest Pokémon game to make it easier. there really should just be a general “pokemon” catergory though

Also, does anyone know if there’s any capture cards under 130$ usd that have a 1440p 120/144hz pass-through and at least a 1080p 60 fps output?
