I'm nowhere near where I want to be, but now I have paid stream work and a few people who regularly come in to watch me.

I guess this server has a bit of identity crisis, essentially we don't want a "follow for follow raid train hype" type thing, but a lot of people do, or they expect that. The people on the server are mostly streamers and they are never going to be the best audience. So this is already going to be more of a support in terms of resource and chat rather than follower boosts, but I think that's okay. (edited)

And this is what people need to understand, creating a connection with a community is what make someone grow their audience. It doesn't need to be this community specifically, since 99% of the people here are streamers, trying to do pretty much the same thing. Our connection here is mutual support and networking. If you are creating content you need to find a community to consume your content. Could be anything (game, activity, hobby, discussion, etc), but it must me something you love. (edited)

thats an issue on every server its common knowledge that follow for follow hypes isint getting you anywhere yet ppl who join assumes thats the servers purpose its not support to give an empty follow you naturally follow those who youd watch

Yep. People join random servers and start spamming away, like that's going to make any difference. And many of those people quit after a month or two because "they don't know why they aren't growing", while refusing to do any research on why (and how to improve their content) the entire time.

There's plenty of knowledge on everything that could help you find a way to own your content (to learn how to improve it, and move it in your own direction), much of it on YouTube, Reddit, OBS forums, Discord servers like this one... People just don't look for it.

I joined an all-girls server not too long ago. They had a really awesome way of getting everyone to support each other. Basically you had to earn a role in order to post in their going live channel. You earn that role by going into streams, being active in the discord, raiding streamers in the discord by posting in their raid channel, and giving advice. Once you got said role you have to maintain it by raiding and staying active. If the admins/mods notice you're no longer active you have to earn back the role. It was a really good system until the admins started abusing the server and doing a ton of self promo. lol

Yeah it is too bad the mods and admins don't know how to run a large server. I actually really liked their system. It was very supportive and I made some friends there... but the admins kind of destroyed that vibe. lol The server is still alive only because some of the people there are totally blind to what is happening. :' )

For sure, and in large servers people join for different ideals and goals in mind it seems. I mean to find here for instance you searched reddit. Found a sub for streaming and clicked in So probably looking up things like "How to grow my stream" or whatever it may be So it makes sense that some people join and go the route of asking for follows. They are still kinda learning the ropes

I mute most servers I'm on, to avoid unnecessary everyone pings (since some people think it's fun to create annoyances) and to be able to respond whenever someone pings me.

I get it amigo. I mean the first thing I would ask is have you been able to nail down a schedule at all? Are Minecraft and Fall Guys still the main games you stream? If the title of the stream is "First stream ever" that certainly helps bring a cool sense of being the first to join a stream. After going for awhile tho it gets rough to stand out without having a few dedicated people there. I sound like beating a dead horse here but having a schedule is honestly the first big thing amigo

Haha I did but expertise starts and ends with setting up the Apex hosting server... it’s got prebuilt installs for most of the popular mod packs with single click installations

definitely trying to be more consistent... I do struggle weekday evenings as I work in IT so I’m literally at my machine all day, it’s hard to justify staying another 3-4 hours per evening streaming ... I am working on creating a schedule though and sticking to it

Probably depends. For me, StreamLabs felt like a vendor lock-in and I heard multi-streaming makes it hard to build a community since you're trying to interact with various communities in different contexts. However, StreamLabs pretty much gives you as you'd need. That's just my take on why I decided to stick with OBS.

Streamlabs is a ~~OBS Studio ripoff~~ streaming software with some multistreaming capabilities, while Restream.io is a service that redirects your stream to multiple platforms at once (doing a relatively better job at it).

Thanks, I am quite satisfied with Restream.io have been using it for about a year now. However, I also liked to echo my eyes open to better solutions.
