Sadly I won't be able to stream it unless I figure out the horrible lag issue I can run it on high without stream but even on low while streaming it lags really bad

pretty good. just got home from work, finally a day off tomorrow

anyone know a good resource for upgrading a mic setup? I'm not a streamer but figured people in here may know. Mostly for work meetings and gaming. Budget 100-250$ at most, depending on what will give me most value. Someone who has great audio recommended the Rode PodMic but I learned that to get the most out of that you kinda need their mixer console thing which is like 500$ and definitely overkill for me

I mean from a basic mic that is a headset with normal voice to something like a Yeti blackout you will notice a huge difference. The blackout is around 125 or so. I got mine used for 75. However then you can REALLY uograde depending on how much you want to go. I also suggest the Rig800 since you mentioned gaming. I use it still and if you add Dolby Atmos it is great. But not sure if with your work you can have a full gaming headset on or no? best of luck @maloik!

I'll be swapping these between my personal and work computer using a usb switch, so the gaming headset is out. I want to wear simple earbuds or my great audio headphones during work

I usually play on diety but you need to be focussed to do so and its hard to be focussed with a newborn gaha

@maloik I got the blue yeti mic (same as blackout, different color) on Prime Day one year for like $80 new. If its not urgent, maybe wait for like black Friday / cyber Monday weekend to get good equipment cheap. Like Shane said, very noticeable difference. In the meantime you can probably get a decent headset forr less than $30 as a temporary

OHH I see for meetings. Yeah the Yeti are really nice, but maybe keep an eye and see if you can catch a sale. If you're not worried about which color, check Amazon. One type of color of something is usually cheaper.

@maloik you could also look into the elgato wave: 3. I haven't used one personally but I hear really good things. 159.99 normally but sold out almost everywhere and price gouging is outrageous on these and most of the other good USB mics

@maloik I’m pretty much flat broke but still needed a better mic. Wound up getting a Tonor TC-777 for my interim mic. I think I paid around $40 for it on Amazon. It gets the job done and most people say my audio quality is good. My only real complaint is the USB cord isn’t quite long enough with the boom arm I have. Just thought I’d throw the suggestion out there.

Especially if you're close with the group, then they're not just popping in to see your stream, but staying and chatting too which is what I tend to do when I visit streams found through discord.

YEa I mean make a few good friends and stream together or just support to get started. Discord is nice for that and as you gain viewers it helps everyone in a sense

What do yall do when you hit a wall and arent really seeing any new people or followers in chat, or maybe even losing followers over time?

Cohh gave some advice. Basic idea, check when there aren't a lot of big streamers on and stream at that time for a better chance. Try to be positive. Engaging. Play popular games.

Big streamers and popular games aren't necessarily the problem though. Yes the big boys have a big viewer pull, but there's still hundreds of people streaming many games, especially the popular ones. I've had more viewers when starting up a lesser known or played game at times. I like to play early access stuff because, among other reasons, people are searching for those games to see what they look like and how they play.

I just started 2 weeks ago and get maybe 15 unique viewers in a 2 hour stream but managed to pull in 60 in the middle of the night playing this new beta that I'm guessing people wanted to learn about

There are lots of people out there that enjoying company, and talking to other members of a community or even streamers is good. Imagine like making friends, you start with someone that shares wither some interest or has a similar point of view in life, friendship brings other people , and then others and others

Most of my viewers come from the community of games that i play

I’m working on revamping my channel a bit because I’ve been feeling stagnant. All I played consistently until now was Persona 4 Golden and Hearthstone. Since the new Hearthstone expansion came out my viewer count dropped off a cliff and I’m done with P4G until I’m ready to try and speedrun it. I used to have a small group that would come in every night before the Hearthstone expansion. For me I found playing old obscure DOS games brings in viewers. We also got a new PC in my house so I can try other new games. So I’d say try new things, experiment with things you don’t normally play, and try to network when possible (don’t slack like I have been lately). Growth takes time. Also just be yourself. That’s a big thing.

yeah I know before I started watching streamers for their personalities, I was mostly curious in learning about games I wanted to buy. if you have the time, money and/or patience to try new/obscure stuff I think there's a big chunk of viewers out there that appreciate that

The reddit format doesn't lend itself to such short timeframe posts I don't think, as in someone just drops their links describes their channel, and a few hours later it's just not relevant anymore so there's no possibility for engagement. I have seen some good posts on there where people have really started a conversation about their channel, and it had a good response, but it's certainly in the minority.

Something that could help get more engagement on the sub would be establishing certain days of the week for specific types of content, for example: software and hardware discussion and troubleshooting, volunteer channel critique, community tips for actually growing as a streamer (instead of doing F4F and link spamming), news about streaming platforms / new software /new hardware, etc

Hey, all. Quick lunch break so I'm catching up on this thread. @Misio we were discussing that last night. The sub reddit is flooded with promo posts and it makes it hard to want to revisit. I'd try and cut promos completely if not down to a mega thread. I think the viewers who are interested in finding people in that manner would check the thread, and I'd be interested in helping fill the sub with real content like tutorials or gameplay, software discussions, etc. A lot of the posts are "help me get to affiliate!l and it's just like... Why should I? No interaction with the community, just demanding viewers.

Yeah I've been following it for a while. Played the most recent (I think beta). It seemed good in concept, felt a little dull, but it was also an alpha/beta which are typically unfinished. I think the game's gonna end up being run by people who have played beta and alpha a lot and know how to rush-capture towns. I'm gonna check it out tonight, though, and see how it feels. Been months since I played.
