so does anyone else have to turn their game settings down to stream? I just got a brand new PC, and I haven't tried streaming games at max settings yet, but with my Old PC I had to turn down the game settings to be much lower than what I normally play at to have a stable stream

I mean... it's not that hard. It's time consuming and expensive; bending the pipes takes some time to get used to; but it's certainly possible to do.

No, not really. Would be a bit of an arbitrary move to implement a rule and make it irrelevant at the same time. However I also want to elaborate that this here is not a discord to find an audience. Having the promo here can be interesting for finding other content creators to network, maybe collaborate. Just posting your channel will not bring you much new viewership on itself. The safeguard was implemented to focus on the actual topic of this community: Learning, discussing and better understanding live content creation. Therefore posting to #💯│raid-targets can be good and cool, yet you will benefit a lot more from actually interacting and contributing.

@yungrob4 Not dumb questions at all. The HD60 S+ should work fine. I'm sure there's some legal reason why Elgato doesn't state that you can capture from a Switch device. The HD60 S+ will accept HDMI inputs of various resolutions, including the resolution output by the Switch. There may be issues with the Mac, however. Is it a regular M1, or an M1 Pro/Max? Could you provide the MBP model number, ex. A2338?

What kind of inexpensive webcam would you recommend to streamers, or is the one on the computer usually enough?
I used the cheapest Best Buy webcam for the first few years and it worked great, was 30 bucks. More important is good lighting.
I was recently struggling a bit with burnout and took two weeks off from streaming. Today was my first stream again and I was so overwhelmed with the support and genuine happiness by people that I returned. Had the double of my average viewers and it felt so, so good to just vibe again. I don't think that i want to take breaks to often (or for to long) but it's such an interesting realization that a.) People notice and b.) That listening to myself was the right call.

The room's shape and design can impact lighting, for example if you have any windows or existing light sources.

Technically changing over from twitch to yt (and vise versa) is changing a setting in OBS. However:
- Depending on your setup your overlays won't work correctly
- Most viewers don't want to change so you'd start from 0
- Your overall workflow might change drastically.
If you just started: Discoverablity is shit on both. There are tons of approaches but my main recommendation is: Keep at it as long as you enjoy what you're doing

I just do 720p, no need to crop any content for a weird resolution. I am also lazy.
Found a Sony a5000 for super cheap on FB Marketplace, applying a hack to give it clean HDMI was super easy and took about 5 minutes, and it looks just as good as my Canon m50 Mk II. Definitely the way to go when you want to upgrade from a webcam.

I don't know how you do it, complete game after game. I hyperfixate on specific games to the point where I forget any other games exist. Proof: A recent conversation.

Anyone know better alternatives then Restream for twitch and YouTube?
you can also multi stream with an OBS plugin but i think Restream is easier, and you can transfer chat messages between platforms with the restream bot
You can get a softbox lighting kit for under $50 on Amazon that could basically work for your entire streaming and video content career. Generally anything "gamer" or specifically focused for streamers is going to have a price tag. Stuff for photographers, however, is all the same stuff but way cheaper.
I'll keep this in mind, but I think I want to deep fake (there's probably another name for it--using a cartoon or avatar instead of my actual face) my account if possible. I'm not sure my work is polished enough to show my actual face, and I don't want someone to try to dox me to impress their friends.

Avermedia has a couple of products that might work. The GC513 would be the one I'd look at, though I've not personally tested it with the Switch and cannot confirm if there are HDCP issues .

I'm not sure that's a feature with the solocast. But you can enable audio monitoring through OBS or Windows anyways, shouldn't make much difference.

Is critiquing a gaming company and its work really the same as a "dumb (rape) joke" though? Of course it can be one rule for the big creators and another for the smaller streamers, but that just means you need to be aware and careful of the ToS until you reach the point it no longer matters to you

If you want, go ahead an appeal your ban with Twitch. But my advice for you is to not waste your time comparing your content to anyone else's. Work on improving yours instead, and watch out to avoid the repeating the cause of your ban in the future.

Can I get advice tho? I’m trying to figure out my best foot forward with video editing software for YT content and everyone swears by resolve but it’s a little difficult for someone like me who hasn’t edited videos since high school.
DaVinci Resolve is an industry-standard tool and can be intimidating, but it's industry standard for a reason. It has nearly all of the tools you would need to create video content. There are easier options, like Premier Rush (paid app), but if you're going to use that, you might as well just use YouTube Studio.
You can get single-app licenses, but I hop between Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects as well, so having all apps for $55/mo is what I've decided works for me.
I got my old laptop next to me and stuff. i7-7700, GTX 960M (yes, it's that old)
A GTX 960M has one NVENC H.264 encoder, so it should work okay.
And I’m not trying to be a leach, I understand streamer etiquette, I’d never hop into someone’s chat or general channel on their discord and beg people to watch me.
I'm curious... How many interests do you have? Like... Is it a lot of different ideas for content, or are they all pretty centered around one theme?

Couple of questions you should ask yourself besides what tender asked you:
- Have you simply asked another creator in who's community you're active if they are interested?
- You speak about "commentary on different topics" yet that's incredibly vague. Do you have a list of topics that you'd like to speak about?
- Is there maybe someone in your community that you vibe with that you could invite/empower to start streaming?
- do others know that you create content?
