I can get it to work on streamlabs just fine with game capture but normal OBS doesn't detect game capture, only window capture
7:18 PM
Fullscreen and borderless windowed have no issues on streamlabs both in and out of admin
Avatar
Are you doing auto on game capture?
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/1/2020 7:20 PM
No I always specify window
7:22 PM
Doesn't work
7:23 PM
I tried it in full screen too and it didn't work then. Maybe my laptop just can't for some reason.
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/1/2020 7:25 PM
I've been going through a bunch of forums, but there is no definitive answer i have found yet
7:32 PM
One of the recommendations to try for laptops specifically is to go in advanced and uncheck "force gpu as render device"
7:32 PM
You can try that and see if there is any changes
Avatar
Advanced settings on the laptop itself or Streamlabs?
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/1/2020 7:33 PM
streamlabs
7:34 PM
You would also have to close it and reopen it sorry
Avatar
No problem!!
7:37 PM
This is how it looks in window capture. Game capture does not seem to work.
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/1/2020 7:38 PM
Is that with your game capture source visible?
7:38 PM
it says it's not showing rn
Avatar
This is with the game capture source invisible, the preview shows the window capture source. (edited)
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/1/2020 7:40 PM
So when the game capture source visible does it show anything else?
Avatar
Nope, but now my display capture works!
7:41 PM
Or sorry, I guess the game capture source shows "looking for game to capture", but I believe it's set on auto.
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/1/2020 7:41 PM
Well looks like that small check box did something
Avatar
Ye, it absolutely did! Apparently that is required for display source on laptop. Thank you so much!!
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/1/2020 7:43 PM
Not a problem, I will try to look into it a little more for game capture for the smoother frame rate
7:43 PM
But you are currently operational
Avatar
I am indeed! Invaluable help, truly!

Hello
12:54 PM
is it possible to grab camera video?
Avatar
g0ld_dustx 5/2/2020 1:43 PM
hey guys, I think this topic already popped up some time, but I couldn‘t find any clear help in other forums. I have an Auna-920b usb mic, which of course i can‘t connect with a mixing desk. But I think it‘s acceptable for streaming and discord on pc. I want to get the sound of my pc and of my ps4 on the same headset. Therefor a mixing desk like the Yamaha MG06 would be alright, wouldn‘t it? Now is my second question do I also need to have a microphone that I can connect with the mixing desk or would it be useless to buy a new one? Thank you in advance 😊

I've enabled some BTTV emotes for my chat but for some reason my StreamElements bot !emotes command isn't detecting them, anyone have any idea why? The bots other commands are working, and the emotes themselves are working. (edited)
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 6:32 PM
@paxstations Do you mean cameras like a DSLR or camcorder?
6:35 PM
@g0ld_dustx By mixing desk do you mean a mixer? Or can you link what you mean so I can help out?
6:36 PM
@typeclint When you enabled BTTV emotes on the streamlabs website, did you copy the new URL and place it into the browser source on OBS?
Avatar
typeclint 5/2/2020 6:46 PM
it's StreamElements, and idk where that URL would be on the BTTV website. I just connected my twitch and added emotes to my list.
6:47 PM
I'm not talking about anything for an overlay though
6:47 PM
so idk why I would need a browser source
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 6:48 PM
Misunderstood, apologies
Avatar
typeclint 5/2/2020 6:48 PM
no problem
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 6:59 PM
So the emotes you enabled for your chat you want to show up when you type a command for people to use?
7:02 PM
Apologies ahead of time, I don't use streamelements so I'm learning all of this to help
Avatar
typeclint 5/2/2020 7:16 PM
Yeah so StreamElements actually comes with a built in command for it's bots called !emotes, it's not even custom it comes with the bots, and it's supposed to give you a list of BTTV emotes.
7:17 PM
alias and keywords are optional, they are just alternate commands that will do the same thing
7:18 PM
this is from the StreamElements UI, all the other commands I have enabled in here work it's weird as heck just this one isn't working
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 7:19 PM
Well from a bit of googling around, I found that you can just create a custom command to show your enabled emotes, it might be the way to go. I got it working and showing emotes from bttv
7:19 PM
the !emotes command itself isn't even working in my stream tbh so that's weird on its own lol
Avatar
typeclint 5/2/2020 7:20 PM
I'll look into it see if I can do that, as long as I can get it to show them when chat requests it
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 7:20 PM
It works, I already tested it myself
7:20 PM
Just create the command and input the emote commands into the response field
Avatar
typeclint 5/2/2020 7:21 PM
figured it out lol
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 7:21 PM
Well look at that lol
Avatar
typeclint 5/2/2020 7:21 PM
you have to do !emotes update and then you have to specify bttv since it supports multiple emotes
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 7:22 PM
Thonking
7:22 PM
Imagine
7:23 PM
Well, at least it's all good now
Avatar
g0ld_dustx 5/2/2020 7:24 PM
@GrimmmReapa yeah I mean a mixer.. sorry I am not a native english speaker
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 7:24 PM
No worries!
7:26 PM
As far as a mixer goes, you should be able to get both your ps4 audio and your pc audio pulled through it, the only hold up is finding a way to get your PS4 audio into the mixer. The PS4 can use hdmi and optical digital output for audio for sure.
7:27 PM
And you shouldn't have to get a new microphone, it can stay plugged into your PC. A new microphone would be completely optional, and at that point could be a studio microphone that plugs into an XLR plugin
Avatar
g0ld_dustx 5/2/2020 7:31 PM
okay yeah that should not be a problem then. thank you very much. can you recommend a mixer for max. 100€? I‘ve seen some for round about 50€ but don‘t know if the quality is good enough
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 7:31 PM
I'll look into it with your currency in mind
7:35 PM
Well first do you have a way to convert the audio from your ps4 to the mixer?
Avatar
g0ld_dustx 5/2/2020 7:38 PM
i think over aux should be fine?
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 7:38 PM
L/R audio cables?
Avatar
g0ld_dustx 5/2/2020 7:40 PM
with an aux to L/R audio cable it would work i think. aux ist the normal audio output of the ps4
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 7:40 PM
Yeah that should be able to work fine
7:40 PM
you would probably at max need a 4 channel mixer
Avatar
g0ld_dustx 5/2/2020 7:46 PM
yeah i won‘t need more. I think 3 would be the max I will use
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 7:47 PM
Just look for something with that criteria, you don't need it to be expensive
Avatar
g0ld_dustx 5/2/2020 7:50 PM
okay thank you very much for helping out 🙂
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 7:53 PM

Avatar
Krzy_Gaming🌈 5/2/2020 8:05 PM

Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 8:07 PM
The files you download from the website, are they PNGs by chance? Or something else?
Avatar
Krzy_Gaming🌈 5/2/2020 8:08 PM
png and psd
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 8:10 PM
alright so the PNGs you are going to want to add in by adding an Image Source
8:10 PM
Once it's in you can adjust the size and scale of it and place it where you want
Avatar
Krzy_Gaming🌈 5/2/2020 8:15 PM
so everything that choose has to always be in the png @GrimmmReapa (edited)
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 8:16 PM
For streamlabs yes, the PSD files are photoshop documents, they can only really be edited in photo editing software
8:16 PM
let me double check something
Avatar
Krzy_Gaming🌈 5/2/2020 8:17 PM
ok

8:38 PM
I'm trying to see if this panel i am editing is the right one, just to be sure
Avatar
Krzy_Gaming🌈 5/2/2020 8:41 PM
ok
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 8:43 PM
are so here's what it is
8:43 PM
The Panels you want to put on your mixer need to be uploaded to imgur or something, it requires a URL to access the image
8:44 PM
Just set up a private album and it will only be accessed by you
8:44 PM
Step 2 is going into customize your channel, at the very bottom in channel description is where you want to be
8:45 PM
You can choose the image icon there and copy and paste the link from imgur to there. you can type a message below the pictures if you need to
Avatar
Krzy_Gaming🌈 5/2/2020 8:49 PM
how do i load it to a imgur
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 8:50 PM
you got an account?
Avatar
Krzy_Gaming🌈 5/2/2020 8:50 PM

Avatar
Krzy_Gaming🌈 5/2/2020 8:53 PM
okay i made it now whats next
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 8:54 PM
So you are gonna want to upload those pictures, there should be a button to do that
Avatar
Krzy_Gaming🌈 5/2/2020 8:58 PM
im having trouble
8:59 PM
i just upload the pix
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 8:59 PM
so they're uploaded?
Avatar
Krzy_Gaming🌈 5/2/2020 9:00 PM
i just uploaded one of then
9:01 PM
them*
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 9:01 PM
alright so what you do is you right click the image, click copy link address and then you paste that in the image box for channel description
Avatar
Krzy_Gaming🌈 5/2/2020 9:03 PM
ohhhhhhhh okay i seee
9:03 PM
lol so pretty much ill just do this with everyone
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/2/2020 9:03 PM
yep
9:03 PM
And if you want to put text beneath the pictures, you can just add it under them
Avatar
Krzy_Gaming🌈 5/2/2020 9:04 PM
okay now is this going to mess up because i know all of them are animated
9:04 PM
so even tho i copy the image address they still going to be animated

hello guys, sorry if this is not the place, I just found this discord trying to troubleshoot some problem I've got
12:25 AM
I'm trying to start streaming, not a videogame, but sort of a small educational channel to stream some of my classes to my students when needed
12:26 AM
I got a SONY HDR-PJ50 with HDMI and USB cables, I thought I could connect the camera as a video source to my computer but it seems I need a dedicated HDMI input in it
12:28 AM
The solutions I've got from internet say, as I understand, that I could connect other Sony cameras through Sony Remote and then through OBS Studio
12:29 AM
But I can't seem to find the correct USB configuration in my camera to connect to Sony Remote
12:29 AM
I can make it "find" the camera
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/3/2020 12:29 AM
Give me a bit
12:29 AM
I'll look into it
Avatar
It recognizes it
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/3/2020 12:30 AM
Does it pick it up as a video capture device in OBS?
Avatar
and sends this message
12:33 AM
nope
12:33 AM
only my stock laptop webcam, which is not suitable to stream a whiteboard
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/3/2020 12:33 AM
It says press the Menu button on your camera and search for USB Streaming to select on, if you haven't done that yet
Avatar
I think this camera doesn't have that USB option
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/3/2020 12:34 AM
The guide I looked up just generalized for Handycams, similar to your camera, I'll look into it further
Avatar
USB connections : MTP or Mass Storage
12:35 AM
USB LUN Setting: Multi or Single
12:35 AM
those are the only 2 USB settings I can find
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/3/2020 12:45 AM
Some of the options for handycams that I find may be for some of the newer models possibly. I'm still going to be looking, but a capture card may be one of the better ways for you to actually put your video through to OBS
Avatar
Yes, I think that might be the easiest way to do it
12:48 AM
wanted to know if anyone had a similar experience with this
12:49 AM
or if I was missing something very obvious, only cause I'm very beginner with this
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/3/2020 12:49 AM
Most people default to connecting a camera/camcorder directly to a capture card. Some Sony cameras do allow for USB Streaming I just think the model you have doesn't have the feature
12:50 AM
Apologies for not finding a more cost effective solution
Avatar
thank you a lot for your time, it seems that way, I wanted to see if I could use this same camera since I got it burrowed during the pandemic for my clases, I already invested in a good microphone (didn't know I needed a Phantom Voltage Source, gotta buy it now) a whiteboard for my house and some accesories to make it all work
1:09 AM
Now I am sure of what I need exactly

GrimmmReapa 5/3/2020 1:10 AM
Happy to help. At least you are pointed in the right direction!

what would you choose on rtx 2070 super and ryzen 3700x - cpu or gpu stream?
Avatar
typeclint 5/4/2020 9:28 PM
Probably use NVENC, it's supposed to be better if you have the resources for it afaik
Avatar
Deleted User 5/4/2020 9:29 PM
forgot to mention, want to do 1080p 60fps
Avatar
typeclint 5/4/2020 9:30 PM
You should still be fine. What you'll want to watch is your GPU load while playing whatever game(s) you're streaming. If you find your GPU maxing out and it's causing stream issues that's the only reason to consider not using NVENC. I don't think you'll have that issue with your setup though.
9:31 PM
Also are you doing twitch? And are you partner? If twitch and not partner you might want to do 720p60 because you won't have quality options for viewers (edited)
9:31 PM
And some viewers won't be able to watch at 1080p60 with their connection
Avatar
Deleted User 5/4/2020 9:35 PM
i will do youtube i guess
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/5/2020 4:13 AM
Streaming in 1080p would look fine, but you aren't losing that much quality by going for 720p. Available for a lot more viewers and less intensive on your system as well js

Need some help my PC friends. Since yesterday I've been dropping frames (10-20%) while streaming. I see no issue while playing the game but chat has been experiencing freezing, tearing and bad frame rate. Not sure what to do. I've tried SLOBS and StreamElements. I've done a couple of things already but the issue persists. Ill list my specs and what I've done so far. I'm not the most computer savvy person so bare with me. Specs: -16gb Ram -Intel i7-7700 cpu @ 4.20ghz -GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Things I've done: -Double checked internet connection (I have 450 upload and 18 download) -Changed bitrate form 5000 to 4000 in streamelements obs. -Changed FPS from 60 to 30 in streamelements obs. -Updated the RTX driver. (windows just did an update a couple of days ago and after is when I'm having the cpu issues so not sure if its that) -Disconnected my elgato (I stream switch games and pc games and issue occurs on both) I've had the issue when using the elgato for my switch and ps4 and when playing PC games like Overwatch and Destiny 2.

Internet speeds are good. I ran a ping test and didn’t time out or anything. I’ve yet to reset router but I have to wait till my wife is done working to try that.

Random question, are you running slobs as an administrator, or just normally? Running it as an admin fixed a lot of the issues I was having
Avatar
This is whole stream is active and when stream is off.
10:40 PM
I ran streamelemenrs and slobs as admin and not as admin and same issue. @ThickestHippo
10:41 PM
@GrimmmReapa and no worries. Take your time. I appreciate the help.
Avatar
ThickestHippo 5/5/2020 10:50 PM
Actually Maruu, I have a question you may be able to help with since you stream switch games. Which capture card do you use? I've been getting a bunch of frame skipping on stream with my capture card. The game itself is fine, but on stream the stream will freeze and restart a second later skipped forward. Any idea what could be going on?
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/5/2020 10:52 PM
The CPU usage is pretty average, I would try the modem afterwards. That can honestly help a lot because your problem sounds a little more internet based. Otherwise it may lie in you cpu settings in obs
Avatar
Yea I even re setup obs just incase but that didnt help. Ill attempt to reset the router tonight and fill you guys back in afterwards to see what happened. Also ordered some aircans to see if cleaning out the PC will help. It looks clean. Just a tiny bit of dust. Weird thing is I have no issues on my PC at all literally just people who watch the stream,
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/5/2020 11:29 PM
Yeah sounds like it's either the CPU decoding or your internet
Avatar
So if the internet is good whats the whole cpu decoding issue? whats the fix? Sorry still learning all this.
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/5/2020 11:40 PM
It's just the rate and quality at how your CPU decodes the video to be able to stream it. I don't think that's the case with your CPU though
Avatar
Got it. Once I get a chance Ill reset the router and let you guys know. Thanks for the help.

I believe for your steam chat if you go into the settings and broadcast settings, you can make chat show up on a corner of the game you are playing, so you cant at least have that
6:20 AM
as far as the Restream issue, I'll try to look into it a bit, but I don't have a lot of experience with that

Hey @GrimmmReapa I really appreciate you trying to help me! The steam broadcast chat thing, are you telling me you can make it appear ABOVE the game while you play?
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/6/2020 6:29 AM
Yes
6:30 AM
It's not all in the same restream app, but you should be able to make text appear above the game. I'm not certain how transparent it is though
Avatar
Hmm I see. I will look into it right now. I wonder if it means it would appear in the stream/streamlabs obs
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/6/2020 6:31 AM
If you are doing window capture, yes. If it's game capture, I believe it will not
Avatar
Indeed! since it is game capture i guess it is ok
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/6/2020 6:43 AM
If you are going for a behind the scenes chat and not having it seen on stream, then game capture is the way to go

kor_chocobo 5/6/2020 8:45 AM
hey guys.. new to the DC server and new to streaming. I really had no intention of streaming until very recently where my friends found it very entertaining to play Marbles together. I have a pretty outdated setup (AMD FX-8350, GTX 1070) and it definitely struggles when I try to play any games more demanding than Marbles or TFT where FPS actually matters (LoL, Apex, Valorant, etc.) even when streaming at 720p/30fps. Does anyone have any suggestions for a modestly-cheap upgrade for my CPU/mobo/cooler so that I can stream these games? I also have a 144hz monitor so being able to maintain 144 fps in game would be a cherry on top.
8:47 AM
One thing I was looking into was the NDI tool in OBS to offload the stream encoding to a 2nd rig (I have a pretty powerful laptop) but my current CPU seems to not support that and I don't have physical access to my router anyways, which if I am understanding correctly, is necessary to setup a LAN/subnetwork.
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/6/2020 8:52 AM
As a general thing, if you are upgrading your cpu and mobo, you would have enough power at that point to just use OBS without any issues all on one computer.
8:52 AM
It all depends what you are going for in terms of budget as well
Avatar
kor_chocobo 5/6/2020 9:01 AM
if possible i'd like to keep the total of all the upgrades below $500 since i'm not exactly committed to streaming or anything.
9:01 AM
and my current set up is actually just fine for the type of gaming that I do anyways so it's not necessarily a necessary upgrade except for the purpose of streaming.
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/6/2020 9:06 AM
The only thing I can't account for too well would be RAM due to differences in prices between brands and such. Motherboards having a similar circumstance as well, but a MOBO and say a ryzen 7 3700x would probably get you around that price point.
9:06 AM
9:07 AM
However, the motherboard and RAM would be more personalized in terms of your wants and needs. 8gb, 16gb and what you want as far as mobo brand, wifi enabled, stuff like that
Avatar
kor_chocobo 5/6/2020 10:24 AM
Ahh yikes. I forgot I'd probably have to upgrade to DDR4 RAM. At that point I might as well just give my machine to my gf and build a new one from scratch.
10:25 AM
But streaming is mostly cpu intensive right? Like a 1070 shouldn't bottleneck any performance for these types of games?
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/6/2020 10:54 AM
While that is true, games don't run solely off of a GPU. RAM and CPU will factor in to how the games run as well, just not the degree of the graphics card. And if your obs is producing 720p/30fps and causing your games to crap out, it may be the CPU under too much of a workload to perform both tasks side by side
10:54 AM
And yes, you would need to get ddr4 to rock a new mobo and CPU these days, so it's a whole package at that point
10:56 AM
I'll look more into your CPU and current set up a bit more to see but I can't imagine things bottlenecking to a point where games are struggling
Avatar
@GrimmmReapa I was surprised out how much impact RAM speed had on performance, especially on Ryzen, I forgot to set dual channel on a new build I did for a short time and the difference was night and day
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/6/2020 10:57 AM
Oh most definitely, a lot of people just go for cheaper ram because the speeds aren't up there, but when you're rocking something with good MHz you'll see it
10:58 AM
@kor_chocobo If it's not too much of a bother for you, I can answer more questions later and we can brainstorm a bit. Of course there are a lot more people to help as well, but I have to get some sleep, I have duty at 1400 and it's 6am.

2:07 AM
i'm using streamlabs obs
Avatar
Hey @GrimmmReapa Looks like you were right about the router reset. Stream not dropping frames anymore. So thanks on that. One new thing that did come up tho is that during cutscenes it seems I can a message that says the encoder is overloading. I lowered the bitrate from 5000 to 4000 and it happens only once in awhile. My CPU was hitting 95% at times with only the game and obs running.
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/7/2020 3:20 AM
At most for 720p/60fps I would recommend 4500 kbps, but make sure no additional processes are running that are CPU intensive. But what are your CPU presets and the priority you are at?
3:20 AM
And I am glad that the original issue is resolved

Oodles_of_Noodles 5/7/2020 1:49 PM
Hey everyone, good morning! I had an issue last night with Twitch, and I was wondering if anyone could offer some assistance. I wanted to stream some Minecraft (windows10 version) but when I went to start the stream, the minecraft tab wasn't an option to choose for broadcasting, just the entire screen. I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this problem or if there is a different way I should go about streaming this version of minecraft. Steam works just fine on my pc, so maybe it's a settings thing?

@GrimmmReapa lol so what do you mean CPU presets and priority?

Right now I have this set:
4:25 PM
Video Bitrate - 4000

Encoder Hardware Nvence

Base canvas 1920x1080

@Duuzou also what is your CPU preset? It's determined by speed

Avatar
TokageStudies 5/7/2020 8:39 PM
@GrimmmReapa no it does not.
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/7/2020 8:42 PM
It would make your set up a little complicated then. The benefit of a mixer with usb is that you can use the mixer as both a sound and recording device. If you ran this mixer with an aux cord from the headphones slot into your computers microphone slot, you would be able to have your microphone and game audio, but you couldn't run the PC audio into it otherwise it would duplicate the sound
8:42 PM
Did you recently buy this?
8:45 PM
Basically to say it without it being a jumbled mess, you can get outside audio into your stream, but you would have to listen listen to your PC audio through 3.5mm and you wouldn't hear your game audio from a set up like that
Avatar
TokageStudies 5/7/2020 8:54 PM
So there is no way for me to hear my game audio if I do this?
8:58 PM

Advanced is where you are able to adjust a lot of settings it may help, and what about the sources
Avatar
6 sources
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/7/2020 9:16 PM
@TokageStudies you can, but it would have to be monitoring the recording device audio in Windows and you would hear your microphone audio as well

TokageStudies 5/7/2020 9:27 PM

GrimmmReapa 5/7/2020 10:26 PM
Sorry work and all
10:28 PM
So basically you would be able to run the mixer as a microphone itself and have your game audio and microphone audio run through, but since it's a microphone you wouldn't hear it unless you monitor it
10:29 PM
I would personally return the 502 and go for the 502USB it's 20 dollars more expensive, but you can use that mixer as a recording and sound device, otherwise your other set up will be more complicated than it needs to bs

Hey fam. Just found this channel. So, I would like to start streaming with my 4 year old kid. Problem is, I don't even know where to begin. I have the following computers -2011 iMac: 2.7 i5 / 8GB DDR3 / 1TB / AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB -2011 Macbook Pro 2.3 i5 / 16GB DDR3 / 256 SSD + 2TB Hybrid SSD / Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB -2015 Macbook 1.2 Intel Core M / 8GB DDR3 / Intel HD 5300 1536 MB I was wondering what machine would be best to stream as well as what would I need to start streaming on Twitch. I am ready to learn and invest somewhat into buying the equipment needed to get going but also, I am ready to accept that my gear is out of date and could potentially be buying a new Mac Mini or potentially a PC. What are your thoughts or feedback? Cheers!
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/8/2020 11:30 PM
Your MacBook pro spec wise would probably be one of the best bets in terms of power and being able to do it, however there are some limitations to something that old. I personally would hear yourself toward investing in a newer computer, probably a PC due to price point being more affordable and still getting the same value. But what games are you hoping to stream? Computer or console or both?
Avatar
Console would probably be the most recent one seeing as me and the kid are playing animal crossings.
12:47 AM
I supposed I can emulate snes and nes games when the kid gets older but then again a lot of the games are on the switch with the online nes and snes.
12:48 AM
Furthermore I’m not going to be doing anything crazy or stuff, but seeing as I have computers that are running fine I was thinking, either buying an older capture card, or like you mentioned, getting a pc
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/9/2020 12:54 AM
Look into capture cards that can support up to 1080p 60fps and start from there. Look if it is compatible not only with Mac but with your version of MacOS and hardware.
12:54 AM
If you don't need to spend the money don't, but seeing as you have a budget, worst case scenario you do need to dish out some dosh on it

@GrimmmReapa After using advanced setting everything is working great. No overload on encoder and .5% dropped frames over 8 hour stream. Appreciate all the help.

however, your cpu seems like it would work for encoding as well

GrimmmReapa 5/9/2020 6:30 PM
nvenc is better in some peoples cases because it uses the gpu to encode rather than the cpu, it also allows for much higher bitrates and all

Perhaps since you're more accustomed to nvenc you can toss in some ideas for Beannoott here

no, just apparent by looking at preview its not 60 fps
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/13/2020 5:13 AM
does it in the bottom say it's at 60fps?
5:13 AM
as far as game capture goes, it could look smooth but not 60fps smooth on obs ast time
Avatar
is there a better option rather than game capture?
5:15 AM
also I'm not entirely sure where to view OBS FPS
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/13/2020 5:15 AM

GrimmmReapa 5/13/2020 5:16 AM

Avatar

Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/13/2020 5:18 AM

Hi guys, so I'm streaming Rocket League and the game sound is not enough to hear it clearly but I don't want to raise the sound of my game because it's too loud for my ears. So I want to increase the sound of my game for my stream but not for myself.
Avatar
Lily_Aspen 5/13/2020 1:09 PM
You should have a slider to raise the volume, if that's not enough add a gain filter, but be careful gain can get away from ya pretty easily

If you are looking to ask some questions that could help your stream, it would be appreciated if you post a few things so that we can skip some introductory questions. If you could share your: Output/Broadcast Settings, Video Settings, Computer Specs and Streaming Equipment If you have posted your problem on the subreddit (r/streaming), please link it as well, as it could help you share your issue with us quicker. we would have a much easier time assisting you in answering your questions and getting you up and running. Keep in mind we do not have specific people to help and it may take some time to answer your questions as we all have busy schedules, but we will try to help you! Thank you for your time and best of luck with your streaming!

Avatar
@Gin I'm using PS4 remote play connected to my PC. The PS4 on wifi, and the PC hooked up to an Ethernet, 0 frame drops.

Sweet. Thanks

Hello everyone. Looking for some support on microphones. I’ve been through probably 3/4 usb microphones and just not getting the quality I want. I am ready to upgrade to an XLR and really am looking for someone who is very well educated and familiar with xlr mic setups for a dual stream PC setup. If you think you can help let me know via DM! Thanks
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/15/2020 12:51 AM
So you want to have one microphone work on 2 PC's for a dual stream? @Caluge
Avatar
Yes that. And also going into the setup, what I need on top of a microphone. Audio interface cords etc. I’m thinking of getting the SM7B as it seems to be the best
1:03 AM
Really just need to talk to someone and go through everything
1:03 AM
Based on my setup
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/15/2020 1:21 AM
Yeah the SM7B is rated highly, but you shouldn't need something that expensive right out of the gate, you could even go with an AT2020 or higher and still get good quality
1:21 AM
I'll see if there is a good way to make 2 computers interface with the same mixer though
1:25 AM
can you go into some background for the dual stream thing though
Avatar
Hey everyone. I have a Tonor TC-777 usb mic that sounds like I am in a tunnel when I talk. There is no software for it, so I am trying to add filters to make it sound clear and normal. Any ideas?
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/15/2020 5:34 PM
is there actually a sound like an echo? or do you just sound far away?

So I think I’m going to get the Elgato HD 60S but I need help trying to determine a cost effective laptop to use with it so I can stream from my P4
8:00 PM
The articles I see have laptops at 1-2K. I gotta image there’s something way way cheaper to get started
8:00 PM
Any insight is appreciated. I’m not a tech person so a decent recommendation is highly valued

...what would be the best way to stream 3ds and Ds games from a 3ds?
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/15/2020 10:06 PM
they have specific capture cards for ds
10:08 PM
@LifesDuality a laptop with an i5, 8gb of ram for example would be a good start, what are you looking to do
Avatar
VasarianEcho 5/15/2020 10:10 PM
Oh, is there one you could recommend?
Avatar
LifesDuality 5/15/2020 10:22 PM
@GrimmmReapa stream my ps4 game play to twitch with access to obs and overlays etc. and one laptop
10:23 PM
Im of the understanding I can use my p4, computer, capture card and camera and that’s all I’ll need to be able to use obs and etc but I’m also not trying to push money into the wrong thing
Avatar
GrimmmReapa 5/15/2020 10:32 PM
@VasarianEcho Not specifically, but they do tend to be a little pricey because of the technology
10:33 PM
@LifesDuality understandable, it's a pretty easy set up. You don't need to sink in too much money for the laptop
Avatar
LifesDuality 5/15/2020 10:34 PM
Ok so then just something that’ll work to get started and then I’ll have all the pieces? Man I truly appreciate your assistance
10:35 PM
I’ve been trying to grow my community and it doesn’t hurt to have the full set up

GrimmmReapa 5/15/2020 10:39 PM
Not at all, professionalism is a good start

VasarianEcho 5/15/2020 10:52 PM
Canadian Dollars

GrimmmReapa 5/15/2020 10:53 PM
All I can say for that is to just use a currency converter, google can do it

I never get the actual preview image just this icon

is your goal to just get your stream to announce to your server when you are live? Or do you have something else in mind
Avatar
@typeclint is your stream set to mature content?
Avatar
Yeah it is, I guess that's probably why then 😦
Avatar
Yes, it won't preview in that case apparently
