Well I'd assume they specifically have people in place who have it as their job to be community managers and interact with the community.

those are entirely different departments and skillsets, though. itd be like asking why a hospital has people who sort billing and dealing with the insurance people, instead of them seeing patients.

Unless your argument is that they should get rid of all those jobs entirely and put more money into hiring more devs, but then they don't know what their community actually wants.
They have nothing to bridge the gap between devs and community, unless you think the developers should just do both jobs because one is easy but then you're still making those actual developers move away from doing development.

That is correct to a degree. You can't parallelize everything, but if you're working agile, you parallelize about as much as is possible. One more person working on stories can be useful. I don't know what their current bottleneck is, but I'd argue that some form of 3D artist would probably be useful instead of a social media manager.

that depends on which part of the community you listen to. A lot of loud people make a lot of noise, but that doesn't necessarily mean that that's a good direction for your game. As far as player retention is concerned: They had a good new game when no one else did. A drop in playerbase was absolutely to be expected.
You are building a live service product to satiate customers' demands of that product for as long as possible. This isn't Pagani where you buy one mans vision in one purchase that isn't changed.

yeah i got the game at launch and it was really fun back then. Devs threw balance under the bus and it got really annoying, but with the new update that brought balance back it's starting to give me the good old fun it used to at launch. High recommend
