Perhaps the difference is when I played it, cause I played it on the PS3 and I might not have been of the appropriate age group to really comprehend it at the time.

TLOU 2 likes to toot its own horn too much and try and convince you that what Joel did stopped something that would've been a 100% success
I will admit to being kinda miffed about TLoU2. I felt that the original stood on its own and didn’t need a sequel. It felt like a cash grab, and hurt the game because now people will buy the bundle, missing out on the experience somewhat
But that's because I am an absolute sucker for Dead Space and I'd buy Dead Space stuff no matter what

I think it's not exactly fair to compare most games' companion AI to Bioshock Infinite, lol. I can't think of a single game that meets that same standard
