A 700 dollar PC will neither have the performance metrics by default to outcompete with said console and additionally it has nowhere near the optimization to make playing different videogames as consistent as on the console
I mean for someone who is looking for best value overall PC is better. Though in case you don't need a lot of productivity and just looking to game console is more comfortable in that situation.

If you are buying a videogame console then logic would dictate you are buying it to play videogames. The value difference between a PC and a console is highly dependent on what your definition of value is, and if you look at value from the perspective of "I am looking for the best visual fidelity and consistency for videogames at the lowest price point" the only objective answer is console. Telling me I can open Excel and do my taxes on the same device that runs God of War worse than a console for the same price doesn't make that device run God of War better for the same price.

Not a PS guy, but that sounds like a bug. Did you try to restart/unpair-pair/factory reset?

Mine did the update at lower than fully charged, maybe your battery is faulty
I’d hope not it’s not even a year old, and controllers go for like £50 still
If it's still on warranty, bring it back for a repair.

Plugged into console using the wire I got with it and it’s fully charged, and I’ll have to ask my mum if it even had a warranty to begin with

I dropped it once and one of the pegs holding the black panelling on snapped off
