Each of us had 2 player characters and then we shared 1 crafter character due to setting nonsense. What my brother doesn't know is that the other player and I schemed up a plan to make an empire in this game, and made all 5 of our characters Neutral Evil.
So it's only the first session, and we already captured someone whom we're trying to brainwash into following us. Oh, also the empire is a cult.

A garrison of Space Marines to protect a whole planet is typically just 5-20 of them. A legion of them would imply First Founding numbers which for original legions ranges anywhere between tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands depending on the legion. Not only would they be able to liberate all the surrounding planets, but depending which legion it is they wouldn't even exhaust most of their force.
Cause some legions choose to follow the Codex Astartes more liberally than others
If I remember correctly I think the Black Templars are outliers and do not follow the Codex in regards to organizational structure

My problem with the scaling in 40k isn't from humans to space marines but rather from space marines to custodes
