Slugthrowers, what you would consider bullet and primer stuff, does exist in starwars and is indeed, often used by snipers or assassins due to it being pretty good. the reason its outperformed by blasters is entirely industrial. you can cram a small amount of tibanna and a battery into a blaster and have it fire thousands of shots. lightweight and easy to manufacture. unlike slug throwers which require metals and lots of other components.
